25.01.2022 Safe in mama’s arms

24.01.2022 Give me alllllll the birthy details please Look at that white umbilical cord! Did you know that a third of baby's blood is in the placenta? Delaying cord clamping means that baby will receive all of his blood (including stem cells) as well as increase iron stores, minimising the risk of anaemia in his first few months of life.... So before your care provider clamps that cord, ask them to wait for white!

24.01.2022 Mama & her sons This week has been busy, with two precious babes entering the world! And as I sit here and reflect, I realise how it's such a privilege to be able to walk alongside some incredible women during their birthing journeys. To witness the highs, and the lows. To see them owning their power and travelling the rite of passage into Motherhood. ... But what I'm most grateful for is the friendships that are formed The opportunity to get to know these women and their families, to learn about their stories, and to hold space for them

24.01.2022 Oh those sweet newborn days Those days where you can spend all your time in bed, snuggled up to the newest love of your life. Basking in the oxytocin that’s flowing between you and your babe. Forever kissing their soft, chubby cheeks, and breathing in their delicious newborn smell.... There’s no better feeling in the world What’s your favourite memory of those fleeting, first newborn days?

23.01.2022 That look of love I had a smile on my face the entire time I was editing this gallery. Not long now until their precious babe joins their little love bubble

21.01.2022 At almost 41 weeks, this gorgeous mama and her family took a quick trip up the coast so I could capture some beautiful memories for them. We had such a lovely, relaxed afternoon walking around the beautiful botanical gardens, stopping to take photos every now and then. The next morning I received a message to say that this little belly babe had been born!... What a privilege it is to document these magical moments of motherhood

18.01.2022 It’s been a minute since I last posted, but I couldn’t resist sharing this sweet, wee boy with you all Have a wonderful day guys!

17.01.2022 Hello! I thought I'd better introduce myself, although I much prefer to be behind the camera it's good to step outside your comfort zone sometimes! So here's some fun facts about me:... I have three kids, two of which I birthed at home. I was half way through a midwifery degree when I had my second baby. I hope to finish it and become a midwife..someday My husband and I met when we were in Grade 12! I worked in childcare for almost 10 years - being able to encourage and support kids to reach their milestones makes my heart so happy Give me a bowl of icecream over a glass of wine any day! I'm an only child I'm an introvert and actually pretty shy Especially when it comes to large groups of people. Photography is my happy place Whether I'm shooting some beautiful bellies, or at the computer editing your magical moments - I put my whole heart and soul into each and every aspect of your session Now enough about me, I want to know some fun facts about you!! Annnnnnnd go! Beautiful photo of me and my youngest taken by the lovely Lisa from @hellodarling_photography @ Sunshine Coast, Queensland

14.01.2022 I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of photographing a mama’s love for her babe

14.01.2022 I remember feeling guilty when someone would comment about me feeding my baby AGAIN. He can’t possibly be hungry, you just fed him! What I didn’t realise then but know now is that breastfeeding is SO much more than the milk.... You can breastfeed to comfort your baby. You can breastfeed to connect with your baby. You can breastfeed to relax and settle your baby to sleep. Breastfeeding can reduce sensory overload if you feel your baby is becoming overstimulated by their surroundings. Skin on skin when breastfeeding can help regulate baby’s temperature. Never feel guilty about using that boobie magic! Mothering through breastfeeding is normal, natural, and a wonderful way to learn and understand the needs of your baby

13.01.2022 Chunky baby thighs always get me My first babe was soooo tiny, he chunked up a little bit once he started solids, but was always on the lower percentile. My second babe was a delicious chubby little pudding, who couldn’t get enough of the magic boobie milk. And my third babe was born an absolute chunker with all the scrumptious dimples and rolls I couldn’t stop kissing! ... How big were your babies?

12.01.2022 On Friday night I got to meet this perfect, precious little guy His mama was an absolute rockstar, so strong and powerful as she worked hard to bring her baby earthside. Kate and Dan, thank you so much for allowing me to document this sacred journey Sweet baby Harrison is blessed to have such amazing parents!

12.01.2022 There's no better feeling than seeing your baby look up at you with a huge smile on their face Can you remember the moment your baby first smiled? Also, just a friendly reminder that my discounted session rates end TOMORROW. Please get in touch if you'd like to secure your spot with the discounted price

10.01.2022 The amniotic sac Your baby's first home It consists of two thin membranes - the amnion and the chorion.... The amnion is the inner membrane which holds the amniotic fluid that surrounds your baby. The chorion is the outer membrane and is attached to the placenta. Sometimes, these membranes don't rupture (aka, your waters don't break!) and baby is born still inside the amniotic sac. This is called an en caul birth, and happens to approximately 1 in 80,000 babies

08.01.2022 Can I tell you a secret? I hate posed photos You know the ones where everyone is looking straight at the camera and smiling awkwardly?... Yeah, nah. I much prefer to capture the REAL you Your little ones favourite song or game that makes them giggle and smile with joy. The cuddles and kisses you can't help but shower your precious babe with. It's those ordainary, everyday moments that you may think aren't photo worthy that often spark GENUINE love and connection. Those are the moments I love to capture. And those moments are always my clients favourite photographs. So stop those cheesy, fake smiles at the camera, and start preserving the moments that are a true reflection of your family's own unique story

07.01.2022 That moment after you've birthed your baby and pure relief (and exhaustion!) washes over you. You did it! You pushed through the intensity of those contractions, you found a power and strength inside you that you never knew existed until this moment.... And now your baby is here. Safe in mama's arms. Blissfully in love

07.01.2022 We were biologically designed to connect When we have moments of intimate connection, our brains release oxytocin - also called the love hormone. In labour, oxytocin helps decrease fear and anxiety, and promotes strong, efficient contractions.... So if you ever hear a midwife say, "What gets in the baby in, helps get the baby out!" - you'll now understand why. Kissing, cuddling, loving touches, words of encouragement and support are all ways that your partner can help stimulate oxytocin production in labour

06.01.2022 A pause between the surges She surrenders and exhales, focused on the journeys end. Soon, her baby will be here

06.01.2022 Cluckiness Does it ever go away? How do you know when you’re truly done having babies?... For me, I think I’ll always be that tiny bit clucky. I loved birthing my babies and being wrapped up in that newborn bubble of bliss That being said, my last baby was super hard work and is always keeping me on my toes, so I feel like I’m definitely done!

05.01.2022 Happy Friday I’m going to be location scouting today! Hopefully I can find a beautiful spot for the lovely pregnant mamas maternity sessions that are coming up What are your plans for the weekend?

02.01.2022 Hi there! Thank you for joining me on this new and exciting journey. Before I start capturing your birth stories, I thought it would be nice to tell you all about my own. I have three children. Charlie (9), Hallie (6), and Teddy (2). ... My first birth was hard. It was very long, I felt unprepared and out of control, and it was fear that inundated the whole experience. The birth wasn’t just one day as everyone kept telling me. It affected my entire transition into motherhood. The way I viewed my body, and my perception of myself as a mother was entirely influenced by this one day. I was determined to have a better birth experience with my second child, and so I decided to hire my own midwife and birth my baby where I felt the safest - at home. Hallie’s birth was simultaneously the most healing and empowering moment of my life. I felt safe, I felt supported, and most importantly, I felt like I hadn’t failed. The birth of my third child, although much harder (he was a delicious, BIG chunk of a babe!), was just as positive and empowering. I was lucky enough to have the same amazing midwives that supported me during Hallie’s birth. The kids were also present, and watched in awe as their baby brother entered the world Charlie even filmed the entire event! So that’s my story I have limited, low quality photos of my births and looking back, really wished I had of invested in a birth photographer. I cherish the images I do have, as they capture not just the birth of my babies, but the birth of myself as a mother. But above all, there is no greater moment than the one where you meet your baby for the very first time. Being able to relive that moment through photographs is invaluable

01.01.2022 Motherhood A journey like no other. A love you never knew existed.... It’s an emotional bubble of exhaustion and gut wrenching fear; glorious highs and rewarding moments of which your heart overflows with joy and pride. It’s one of my favourite things to document. Everyone’s story is different. Everyone’s story is beautiful. And everyone’s story is worth capturing
