20.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas and holiday season!

20.01.2022 Crowds gathered under stormy skies in Sydneys Martin Place, with friends and families of the two victims killed in the siege, Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson, in attendance, along with hostage survivors, emergency services members and the general public. Rain did not deter those who wanted to come and pay their respects. Many brought bunches of flowers, some laid them outside the cafe. Most of the crowd gathered at the east end of Martin Place, with large plasma screens offe...Continue reading

15.01.2022 COS (Collection of Style) the sophisticated sister label of fast-fashion Swedish retailer H&M has opened its first Sydney store at Martin Place: COS opens its 140th store, in Sydney, today at precisely 12pm. There wont be one crease in any piece of clothing in the mammoth store, the furniture will be adjusted just so and every surface will gleam. COS is an operation in timeless, functional style and the experience in every COS in the world is pleasant and considered. Pleasan...t doesnt quite do it justice, though. Awe-inducing is a better fit its housed in a 48-square-metre, former Commonwealth Bank building in Martin Place, with ornamental plaster panels on the ceiling and giant Art Deco pendant lights. The shop is split into sections (menswear, party, casual) by cleverly arranged racks. Built in 1916, it was considered the first skyscraper in Sydney, says Karin Gustaffson, head of womenswear design. The original features of the building act like a blank canvas to our collection; the beautiful high ceilings and the windows, even the flooring. One small detail I love is that our storeroom is in the old vault. COS releases two collections per year; in-store is the SS collection (meaning we are a season behind the Northern Hemisphere). There are splashes of bright colour among the neutral palette sky blue, orange-red, mint green and bright pink. It will receive clothes drops every week. We think of our customers as style conscious, confident, with a big-city mindset, and as up-to-date with what is happening in the world with everything from art and music to culture, says Gustaffson. Shes wearing a semi-fitted black dress, her blonde hair neatly curled, perfectly poised. We are pleased to announce we will open a second COS in Sydney next year. The Bondi Junction location is ideal. Does she have a favourite piece? We always enjoy readapting and updating the white shirt. Each season we challenge ourselves to rethink this timeless wardrobe essential, and to update it with subtle details or through the fabrics we use, says Gustaffson. I believe timeless and functional design can be incorporated into everyones wardrobe. 11.01.2022 The heart of the city, Martin Place, is illuminated nightly for #VividSydney. Featuring 3 grand installations: Fountain, Mountain of Light and Geometrics, the precinct will become a lively after-hours hub for city workers and visitors alike. Lights on 6pm-11pm until 18 June.

11.01.2022 Vintage buses will rumble up and down George Street in Sydney this weekend to mark the end of an era for the CBDs main thoroughfare. From 4:00am on Sunday, buses will no longer run down the street as construction begins on the new light rail tracks. To mark the occasion, some of Sydneys oldest buses will roar back to life, to take passengers on free rides up and down George Street between Railway Square and Bridge Street, from midday to 5:00pm on Saturday.... The range of buses from different eras are on loan from the Sydney Bus Museum. Among them will be some of the original New South Wales government buses which have trundled down George Street since the 1930s. The Transport Minister Andrew Constance said it was an opportunity to celebrate past modes of travel while looking to the future. "This weekend Sydney changes forever and what a great way to celebrate with the bus museum of Sydney, the historic buses," Mr Constance said. "Its an opportunity for the community to recognise Sydneys bus history on George street, but most importantly with an eye to the future. "Light rail is going to transform this city, its going to be futuristic and its going to be exciting." With the new bus timetable beginning on a long weekend, the Government has conceded that the first real test will be when commuters return to work on Tuesday morning. "Therell be teething problems, I know everyone is going to jump up and down about that, but weve got to get this city right and so theres going to [be] pain associated with the build," Mr Constance said. The Governments CBD Coordinator Marg Prendergast said there would be extra transport staff, bus marshalls and police available to help commuters find their way to their new stops on Tuesday morning. 09.01.2022 Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, have met with thousands of fans in Sydneys Martin Place. Royal fans from across New South Wales this morning packed into Martin Place to catch a glimpse of the heir to the throne and his second wife with a lucky few getting a royal handshake and a close-up photo opportunity. Office workers in the citys high rises could be seen peering out of windows in an effort to catch a glimpse of the pair.... The outing is one of many events on the royals busy schedule, including chatting to officers at the NSW Police Mounted Unit, commemorating Victoria Barracks 100th anniversary and dining with government officials at two formal receptions. The pair will split up several times today when the Duchess visits food charity Oz Harvests headquarters and the Prince of Wales attends separate roundtables on leadership and post-disaster stress with Air Marshall Chief Sir Angus Houston. The final event on the couples itinerary today is a dinner hosted by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove at Admiralty House. Read more at http://www.9news.com.au//prince-charles-and-camilla-to-mee

09.01.2022 Microsofts first flagship store outside of North America opened in the heart of Sydney CBD with religious fervour, the most devoted technology zealots staking out the store for up to 16 hours in advance. By 11am on Thursday, half an hour before the official opening, hundreds of fans had lined up and the DJ was blasting pop songs. Scott Robinson, an unemployed 25 year old, flew in from Adelaide using the last $300 in his bank account. He said unfortunately he would not be abl...e to buy anything at the store on Thursday because he only had $20 left. "It has to be worth it. Im more than over-invested in this," Mr Robinson told The Australian Financial Review and added he had been waiting since 10.30pm Wednesday night and had not slept in the last 38 hours. Mr Robinson said he had handed in his resume to nearby Microsoft staff and hoped to get a job at the store. Norman Ma, 24, said the opening of the store signified Sydney was becoming a destination for tech companies. "Microsoft is realising what Apple realised years ago, which is that Australia is an advanced country with very tech savvy consumers," he said. The new Microsoft store is less than five minutes from the Apple flagship store on George Street, which opened in 2008. The fans who waited up to 16 hours for the 11.30am opening were kept well fed by the company, with pizza for dinner and muffins for breakfast. NO WAY Microsoft Australia managing partner Pip Marlow and New South Wales Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian opened the store. "So on behalf of our government, on behalf of all the citizens of our state and our city thank you Microsoft, all the best for your future, and we love having you here," Ms Berejiklian said, before cutting the ribbon. However, not all of the Sydney CBD shared the enthusiasm of the Microsoft zealots. A mid city centre retail worker who stepped outside for a cigarette break said he had seen similar enthusiasm for the opening of Sephora in December last year and H&M in October. "There is no way I would line up, unless you get free stuff," he said. One elderly bypasser stopped to watch the queue outside the store. When asked whether she would wait 16 hours in order to get into the store, she muttered: "Idiots". 04.01.2022 It appears the chief executive of Prince Charles charity works in Australia may have broken royal protocol when she placed her hand on his Royal Highness backside. Janine Kirk, Chief Executive of The Princes Charities Australia, was guiding Prince Charles during the Skills for Psychological Recovery Roundtable meeting held in Sydney as part of his visit to Sydney on Thursday. As she ushered the prince around the auditorium to meet a number of guests, Ms Kirks hand seemed... to momentarily slip below Charles waistline and come to a rest on his deep lower back.
