24.01.2022 Some very good information about bush fire safety here, take care
24.01.2022 Well lots has happened over the last few weeks on the house as we inch closer to the finish, we have almost finished the entry boot room apart from some architraves and skirting boards, installed the bench seat and underneath storage, also finished the walk in pantry and coffee machine relocation, then fabricated some steel brackets to support our main ensuite vanity timber slab bench , Kath spent about three days sanding it and then I did another day on it and slapped a coup...le of coats of clear on it, it has come up very nice, lifted the huge lump of granite basin into position and sorted out the tricky plumbing, then inspector Hagrid checked it out and gave it the OK, also installed the screen door to the laundry and the screen door to the stacker doors, what a bastard that was but its in and done, then today I laid the sand and cement bed for the tiles for the second bathroom, another bastard of a job but I never have to do another again so that is a real good feeling, so next on the menu once the bed dries is laying the tiles, yes finally Michael Connolly the French Provincial bastard time has arrived, cheers See more
23.01.2022 And the great news is that the outside of the house has now been completed, we finally closed up the big high gables and installed all of the eaves along with the trims and paint,
18.01.2022 So once all the lining boards were installed I got into installing the vanity cabinets and mirrors and then done the tile splash backs in both ensuite bathrooms along with the grouting, I have also now done the silicone to all joints so apart from paint and glass shower screens they are pretty much complete, cheers
13.01.2022 Next up I was on one of my trips to Sydney while I was picking up things for the house Katherine found a lovely door so I was diverted to pick it up pronto, we wanted it for a storage space we were building under our stair case, it was about 400 mm too tall so I cut it down, came up a treat
12.01.2022 Ok so after a long period we are back, although there hasn’t been any updates for quite a while now progress on the house is still being made, and I will attempt to try and get it back up to date, we had a huge push on the outside of the house in the lead up to Christmas as we could see the fires coming so we wanted to be as prepared as we could, the big danger for us was the eaves being open, so we managed to get about 90 percent of them closed in and for the fires we closed... the rest in temporarily with silver foil, from just before Xmas until February it was wild with 4 or 5 evacuations, so much was happening I can’t remember, in between that mum passed away, There were trips back and forward to help organise things for the funeral along with the funeral and then a trip to Qld to give away my eldest daughter so that she could start a new life with her new family, so as you could imagine not much happened for around 6 weeks, the attached pics show the framing for the eave sheets along with the sheets themselves, I have also installed the steel flyscreen doors front and rear along with stainless steel vents over where the exhaust fans exits blow, if you look hard you might notice them, cheers See more
10.01.2022 Big day, no it was a huge week, today we got the recessed box in the shower tiled, there is a name for it but stuffed if I can remember, while I did that Katherine started grouting the floor and then the walls, I also got the toilet installed along with the vanity and towel rail and toilet roll holder, mounted the mirror lights and shower head, so from tomorrow apart from the sikaflex around all the internal corners we are just about all set to use, happy days
10.01.2022 Haven't been able to lay any tiles in the 2nd bathroom as yet as the sand and cement bed is not yet dry because the room is on the southern side of the home and gets no direct sunlight but I have managed to start doing some of the cuts and have set out the pattern and it is workable, Katherine has been busy sanding furniture for the last two days and today we have hung some curtains to the stacker doors, much warmer in here tonight, happy days, cheers
09.01.2022 Well it was a long but victorious day, floor tiles are down and floor waste’s inspected, very tired but happy
06.01.2022 It’s been a while since I have last posted and i have a lot to catch up on, this is the door that I have made for the firewood to be loaded into the house, it’s been made from the same recycled hardwood that’s been used for the stairs
04.01.2022 Next up was the main bedroom ensuite, had to relocate some of the electrical because it was in the way of the vanity cabinets then line all the walls with the timber boards, set out for the vanity cabinets and make sure that we had enough tiles to do the splash back and then block everything in the wall out so I could install the villaboard, cheers
03.01.2022 The second bathroom is starting to take shape, most of the hard bits have been done thankfully, cheers
