25.01.2022 Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in QUEENSLAND. The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.... Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly

Please check the QFES Facebook page for updated information** STAY INFORMED: Apple Tree Creek (west of Childers) bushfire a...s at 12pm Sun 24 Nov Bushfire warning level: ADVICE Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire near Apple Tree Creek. You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes. Currently as at 12pm Sunday 24 November, a bushfire is burning in the vicinity of the Bruce Highway and Spencer Street. Firefighters are working to contain the fire. Motorists along the Bruce Highway should drive with caution and to conditions. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates. If you have a bushfire survival plan, refer to it now and be ready to follow it. If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, or if your plan is to leave, identify where you will go if the situation changes. Close windows and doors to minimise smoke exposure. If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by. Drive with caution in low visibility conditions. Contact your neighbours to see if they need help preparing for the bushfire. Consider finding your essential items (e.g., identification documents, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing such as a long-sleeved cotton shirt and trousers, and boots) in case you need to leave. Consider what you will do to protect your pets and livestock. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Advise family and friends of your intended actions if the situation changes. Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Rainbow Beach, Maryborough, Gin Gin and Lucinda.... 55mm in an hour to 3:11pm at Kroombit Tops Alert (SW of Gladstone). 54mm in the 30 mins to 3:36pm at Abergowie Bridge Alert (west of Lucinda). Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 6:40 pm. If severe thunderstorms develop in the Southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe), a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area. Please refer to the QFES Facebook page for updated information.** PREPARE TO LEAVE: Gregory River (north of Childers) bushf...ire as at 6.15pm Mon 16 Dec Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Gregory River and conditions could get worse. You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly. Currently as at 6.15pm Monday 16 December, the eastern side of a fast-moving fire is travelling in a north-easterly direction towards Newlands Road and Voss Road, Gregory River. The western side of the fire has impacted Childers Road and is now travelling in a south, south-easterly direction through Bingera National Park and Elliot River State Forest towards Onoprienkos Road. Residents who have evacuated can now return to their homes but should remain vigilant. Childers Road is closed to all traffic in both directions. Residents choosing to evacuate should travel south along Childers Road towards Childers to family and friends. Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat. Bring pets inside; restrain them with a leash, a cage, or inside a secure room; and provide them with plenty of water. Take action to protect your livestock. Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins, and outdoor furniture away from your house. Fill containers such as your bath, sinks, and buckets with water so you have access to drinking water and firefighting water. Close windows and doors, sealing the gaps under doors and screens with wet towels to keep smoke out of the house. It’s for this reason that we’re in a position to ease off on some restrictions. We’re working towards getting our community back to normal living, while ensuring we continue to slow the spread of COVID-19. It’s essential that you continue to do the right thing and abide by the restrictions that are in place. The first sign of a spike in new cases and we will have to re-instate the old rules.

13.01.2022 ***Coronavirus Update 18/03/20*** Fraser Coast Regional Council will close a number of facilities as a precautionary measure to help minimise the potential sp...read of the coronavirus. Council is monitoring and responding to the rapidly evolving situation as information becomes available from the state and federal government. The health and safety of the community and our workers is our highest priority. Council’s focus is on maintaining essential services water supply, the sewerage systems and rubbish collection. As a precautionary measure, Council will close a range of facilities and change the way in which some services are delivered. Council facilities that will close include: All programmed library activities and events at our libraries will be cancelled as of close of business today, March 18. Toy library lending has ceased immediately. All libraries will be closed as of 12pm Saturday March 21. Performances to be held in the Brolga Theatre in the next two months are to be cancelled immediately. The Orchid House in Elizabeth St Urangan is to be closed to the public immediately. The Community Nursery in Elizabeth St is to be closed to the public immediately. Wetside Water Park is to be closed as of 5pm today, March 18. Maryborough CBD walking tours are to be immediately discontinued. The Halcro St Community Centre is to be closed immediately. Maryborough Customs House is to be closed as of 5pm today, March 18, for maintenance. Fraser Coast Regional Gallery is to remain closed for maintenance. Council facilities that will remain open at this stage include: The Maryborough and Hervey Bay Aquatic Centres; The Story Bank; Bond Store; The Fraser Coast Adoption Centre; Maryborough and Hervey Bay Pounds; Gatakers Artspace will remain open to the public to view the exhibitions, but exhibition openings, Gatakers By Night and 10-year celebrations planned for later this month have been cancelled; The Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park will remain open for normal activities but not mass gatherings. Council will increase its online resources and programs at the libraries in coming weeks, and will double borrowing limits to 60 items so residents can stock up before branches close on Saturday. Council’s Customer Service Centres will remain open at this stage, but residents are encouraged to pay bills over the phone or online, and to pay by card rather than cash if paying in person. A Special Council Meeting will be held on Friday (March 20) to consider a Council coronavirus financial assistance package. The Local Disaster Management Group has moved to Alert and is ready to assist Queensland Health if needed.
