25.01.2022 7 Jets The Jets were given a huge assignment today, having to face a slick and strong Redfern team on their home soil. While our mighty team managed a few entertaining tries, it was our improved effort in defence that was most impressive. The VRT Lawyers Player of the Match went to Veronica, who is continuing to grow and develop into an outstanding player. Well done team, only one round to go!
25.01.2022 Under 8s With a lot of new faces the 8s played some very good footy towards the back end of the year. There was a lot of positive talk on the field and in defence especially, which shows how well theyre gelling as mates. With solid runs and excellent tackles they did themselves proud. Also thanks to the parents who stuck around for two games of footy during the year when their kid was needed to back up. ... Thanks Marisa our manager for a great job all year. Much appreciated. Jack , Brent, Bailey and Ed for lending hands at training. And our official photographer Glen for immortalising the moments. How goods playing in the rain... Cheers All Up Mascot 2020 Blake

17.01.2022 7 Jets Our game against South Eastern today was hectic to say the least. We had some last minute scratching from the team list, but were very lucky to have a few of our comrades from the U7 Blues and U7 Whites teams hang around to help out. However, our VRT Lawyers Player of the Week went to Evan, a fellow Mascot legend from the U6 age group! He didnt look out of place facing up against the bigger kids and he has a huge future in the game.... Also thank you to Elijah from the 6 Blues for helping out too Happy Fathers Day!

15.01.2022 Mascot Legend Bill Kennedy acknowledgment. Narrated by Club President Frank Cookson and well worth the read. 1956 was a very good year, ask Penfolds, a bottle of that years Penfolds Grange Shiraz will now cost you upwards of $36000.00 if you are lucky enough to be able to purchase one. Dan Murphy’s did have single bottle 57 and 58 vintages available at the same price but they have been sold. ... It also proved a golden year for Mascot when a young guy walked into training and basically didn’t leave until ill health forced his exit a few short years ago. Under age he came along to play in the Clubs E grade. He came to play OUR game and did so for ever so many years. As a 5/8 he was highly rated and played in some good teams almost reaching the mountain top but the big one always eluded him. The 1960’s were dry years for Mascot, a number of grand final appearances, but no wins. With some of his teammates leaving to find greener pastures elsewhere our guy stuck solid and played on during the Clubs most trying years the mid to late 60’s when wins alone were something to celebrate, let alone Premierships. An A grader back then he captained our team which included a number of young B, C and D graders, who did much toward keeping the senior side going, the Club also for that matter. To cut a very long story short our guy went on to, among other things, be Club Captain, A grade Coach, Team Manager, Selector, Treasurer, President and a volunteer Groundsman at Mascot Oval, serving in that capacity for 28 years. All up his involvement in Junior League spread over approximately 60 years. Bill’s service to our game has long been recognised with him being a Life Member of both Mascot and the South Sydney District Junior League, receiving Citations from Local Government and a recipient of the inaugural Men of League Achievement Award for services to Junior League. Despite what individual views we may hold about January 26th, Australia Day, or whatever it is chosen to be called this one will have special significance as William Richard (Bill) Kennedy’s service to Junior League has today been acknowledged by our Country with him being awarded the Order of Australia Medal. I don’t know of a more fitting person to receive such an award and am sure the multitude of you from all our affiliated Clubs, in private life and in general who have come to know Billy over the years will totally agree. Congratulations Billy (OAM) from all of us who have had the pleasure of knowing you. One for the good guys. Who said loyalty no longer exists. The missing link as I see it is an acknowledgement of Bill’s services by way of Life Membership of our District Club, particularly when you consider that during his administerial years in excess of 80 players who have worn the two blues have progressed through to represent at First grade level.

14.01.2022 Mascot Juniors RLFC are saddened by the passing today of Joe Vizzone, a truely great man who will be missed by everyone. We send our deepest condolences to the Vizzone family. RIP Joe and thank you for everything you did for our/your club...you will always be remembered. Our club president Frank Cookson has wrote the following in memory of Joe. It is with deep regret we advise the peaceful passing earlier this morning of Joe Vizzone at age sixty-four.... A local Solicitor, Joe, had been part of the Mascot Club for in excess of 45 years commencing as a player in 1974. Joe always jested we pinched him from Botany for a sign on fee of a carton of Benson and Hedges cigarettes which was never forthcoming. This untrue claim he even aired whilst delivering a eulogy at my mother’s funeral many years later. That dryer than the Desert sense of humour of his! Joe was a very good footballer and played in the lower grades for Souths in 76 and 77 winning the Clubs Player of the year award only to be told the next year he was too small and thus it was back to Mascot. After retiring as a player Joe continued with our Club in various capacities including President, a position he held for many years, and until the time of his passing was still a member of our Management Committee. For the past twenty years, Joe contributed his expertise as a Director of the Juniors Leagues Clubs and their various affiliates. For his voluntary contributions to sport, Joe was elected to Life Membership of Mascot Juniors Rugby League Football Club, the South Sydney District Junior Rugby Football League and the South Sydney Junior Rugby League Club Limited (the Juniors Group of Clubs). To Ann and the Vizzone family we express our sincerest sympathy and may, my old sparring partner, Joe now Rest in Peace.

11.01.2022 7 Whites Wow!! What can I say about these superstars Coach Lee was away, but the team really stepped up today against Wombats and won a terrific game for him! ... All the players have really come together and are working well as a team. It was great to see them helping each other tackling and giving directions to each other on the field. All their hard work at training is really showing. Thank you to Oz and Matai for also helping us out. However, there was one player who really stood out today. He was dynamic as dummy half and his tackling was out of the world! Congratulations Wentworth on such an amazing game! You really are a star
11.01.2022 The Gym will be open next week for 2021 players that would like to train. Monday 5pm & Wednesday 8.30am.
10.01.2022 7 Blues Boys played outstanding against a far bigger Redfern All Blacks outfit. Great defense was shown by all and I was very proud of the effort. We were unlucky not to come away with the win.... Special mention to Man of the Match - Locky who ran hard all game and had backed from his earlier game! Also a big shout out to Caleb with his rock solid defence, Matai with his great attack and Issac for his dummy half running. As a coach you could not be any prouder of these young boys today! Well done Mascot Blues ~ Coach Wayne
10.01.2022 Well Deserved Bill and thanks Ron Hoenig MP for the acknowledgment.
09.01.2022 7 Blues This week was a tough game against a great team in Coogee Wombats. Our defence let us down a bit, but it was still a great game and the boys tried really hard. We lost 12 tries to 8. Joel and Lachlan made some great runs up the middle, but it was Isaaca defensive efforts that were a standout and he was man of the match
09.01.2022 Well done to the 11s beating Wombats by 1 try
09.01.2022 7 Blues Sensational game today. We saved our best effort until the last game. Were were down 8-5 then ended up winning 15-13. Liam was man of the match because of his awesome defensive efforts.
09.01.2022 6 Blues Mascot Under 6 Blues not only had fun but showed true sportsmanship and mixed their teams up with south eastern! They had so much fun playing against their own team members too! Lots of slipnslides in the mud - some amazing runs and fantastic tries! Well done Blues - you rock!!!

03.01.2022 7 Whites Great game this week against a solid Maroubra side. Strong performance by captain Imogen who also got the player of the week. Impressive individual performances by Ned and Lachlan also this week.
02.01.2022 7 Whites Well it seems only fitting that the last game of the season was played in such conditions Our kids where always going to have a tough assignment against a much bigger Tigers team. It was a good, tough battle and coach Lee was extremely proud of all the kids for putting up a terrific effort. We werent winners on the field today, but the amount of improvement this team has undergone this season as been tremendous! Everyone played their little hearts and had a lot ...of fun in the rain. Well done to Lachlan and Nate for taking out Players of Week. Lachie for his big, hard runs and Nate for his quick little tries. The kids and parets would like to say a big thank you to Coach Lee (plus Glen, Wayne and Shane) for a great season. We are going to miss our weekly antics and look forward to a successful 2021 season. Also a big thank you to Kim for organizing the team! Enjoy the off season Mascot Until Next Year - From the 7 Whites - Immy, Nate, Ned, Rory, Lachlan, Leo and Wentworth
02.01.2022 7 Blues Tough 2 games today, first game against St Charles we won 6-3. 2nd game against Matraville (the best team last year) was a 5-3 loss, but our defence was amazing. Caleb was half their size and he was cutting them in half. It was their best game this year. They all did it for Fathers Day. So proud. Caleb got Man Of The Match
02.01.2022 6 Blues Under 6 Blues had a fantastic game today! The boys showed so much form and have started to learn to read the game better so they know their next plan of attack on the field. Our superstar today was Atilla who has had an awesome first season with a few tries down and some great tackles. Well done Blues and well done Atilla!
02.01.2022 NSW Waratah and Mascot Old Boy @talakaii representing his favourite Teams Jersey at Jersey Day 2020. Great stuff for a great cause...Well Done Chris Talakai. #mascotjuniors #jerseydayau #mmxx

01.01.2022 Under 6s - Blues and Whites Both teams played tough Maroubra sides today, and although were both down in numbers, they all tried their hardest and showed their Mascot spirit! Player of the week for the Blues went to Tatum and for thee Whites, Will took out the award! Well done boys!... Special mention to Lyric who played for both teams & is becoming a great little player!
01.01.2022 6s Whites Layken was the man of the match in our three way against Maroubra and LaPerouse His defense and attack was outstanding today Big Thankyou to the under 6s as a lot of the boys played two games today back to back true Mascot spirit
01.01.2022 7 Jets Despite waking to miserable weather conditions this morning, the rain cleared in time for our final match in 2020. A big thank you must got to the Maroubra team, who were kind enough to lend us a few players early on to even up the numbers.... By the time the hooter had blown full-time, every member of our team had either crossed for a try or pulled off a crunching tackle. The parents and I all looked on with an immense sense of pride in the improvement the kids have shown since their first training sessions this year. The VRT Lawyers Player of the Week award went to Maia. She has come so far this season and has grown into a confident and very capable player, in both attack and defence. Well done team. All the best during the off-season and I look forward to seeing you all back at Mascot in 2021!
