11.01.2022 REGISTER YOUR CCTV WITH THE NSW POLICE FORCE CCTV footage has become an important investigative tool for police and there are few of us that have not seen foot...age on media outlets that has assisted investigators in high profile cases let alone the cases that dont make it to the newsroom. The NSW Police Force CCTV Register was established to accurately record the location of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras across NSW. The data is stored in a secure database owned and operated by the NSW Police Force and access is only authorised for law enforcement purposes. No information is provided to third parties. CCTV has assisted in a large number of investigations here in the Oxley Police District but with time, new developments, change of ownership and not knowing about the CCTV Register, the database could be out of date and in accurate. You may also believe the CCTV Register is only for businesses. Incorrect. The CCTV Register is equally open to private residents to register their home CCTV systems. We do not want access to your systems- we are simply after an accurate register of where CCTV is located. Registration is entirely voluntary and just because you register with us does not mean you automatically consent to supplying us with any imagery. The NSW Police Force has not greater or extensive source of information than the public. Registering your CCTV Systems is simply another way we can combat crime and for you to help us meet the NSW Police Force Corporate Vision A Safer NSW.
