25.01.2022 Imagine a life free of knots. Another thought-provoking Body Squabble from resident artist Rob Bidder bit.ly/bodysquabbles

25.01.2022 What IS Fascia? (Sherilea loves it!) Think of a spider web and its a complex mesh-like structure. If you pull one end of the web, its many interwoven connections will cause a pull on the other end of the web. Now imagine that web going through your entire body, around every organ, bloody vessel, nerve and muscle. This goes all the way from your head to your toes. This is Fascia, it is effectively the fully integrated & complete stocking of t...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Ten facts about back pain.

16.01.2022 Self healers & healing practitioners are doing the heavy lifting at the moment. Massive shifts are shaking up seasoned safekeeping self preservation patterns & trauma patterning. Subconscious wounds are moving, showing up as show stoppers stopping you in your tracks, uncomfortably addressing the uncomfortable & felt as mis communication, struggle, anxiety & tension. Many are seeking allies outside of classic friendship dynamics in the right practitioner. Heed the call & ini...tiate being practitioner of your own healing. Body has always been sending you your own specific signals of subtle dysfunction. It also intrinsically knows the way home, but has forgotten the way or the words to ask what you actually need because of socialised adaption. This self healing work is an act of highest courage. Finding practitioners who work with you to harness the tools in line with your intuition & body boundaries is paramount. Inquire about bodywork that shifts muscle memory of trauma patterning so that body & mind keep evolving together. Practitioners that work WITH you not ON you. Authentic healing can feel isolating but the quest is not in isolation. It moves for many. Self healers and practitioners alike. Heed the call & rising to the occasion is not without risk but worth every breath leaning into it. Inquire by message to book bodywork that supports your self healing at the level of your original design so your fundamental being may thrive.

14.01.2022 I’ve long been a fan of the rhythmic, deep diaphragmatic breath to send a direct message to the amygdala, we are safe, we are ok and short track to find physiological & psychological rest. Sometimes a dysfunctional, hyper-toned diaphragm, creating upper chest style breathing, is the hidden reason behind unresolved shoulder dysfunctions, and part of a larger picture of holding patterns around stress. The deep breath that engages the diaphragm interferes with the fight or flight system that can get locked in mode, creating stress chemistry & symptoms as the status quo. If you have trouble engaging your deep diaphragmatic breath, you may hold tension, emotional trauma, knots or trigger points in your diaphragm. You are most welcome to book & address this.

14.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 & clients already needing to self isolate as instructed by our Govt, it is my duty of care to all of my community that it is with a heavy heart I must temporarily cease practicing Massage Therapy from today. I will advise as soon as deemed safe, to reopen & resume Massage Therapy once more. Be well. Sherilea X

11.01.2022 WHAT ARE TRIGGER POINTS (TPs)? A trigger point is simply a small contraction knot in muscle. The knot feels like a pea buried deep in the muscle, and can feel as big as a thumb. It maintains a hard contraction on the muscle fibres connected to it, thus causing a tight band that can also be felt in the muscle. These trigger points in muscles and in the thin wrapping around each muscle [called fascia] are called m...Continue reading
