25.01.2022 The South Australian Premier announced this afternoon that, effective from 11.59pm tonight, South Australia will be entering a six-day lockdown in which only one person per household per day is allowed to leave the house, and only for essentials such as groceries or medical care. It is our understanding at this time that therapeutic massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists will not be able to work for the next six days while this lockdown is in place. 20.01.2022 A letter delivered to the Association by Victorian Chief Allied Officer Donna Markham has indicated that remedial massage and myotherapy will not be opening more widely when metropolitan Melbourne enters the Second Step of its Roadmap to Recovery, which is due to occur on 28 September 2020. Full details will be released by the Department of Health, hopefully in the coming days, and the Association is currently advocating on behalf of members to be able to treat clients. 17.01.2022 Massage & Myotherapy Australia wrote to MPs, state and federal, requesting assistance in helping professional massage therapists, remedial massage therapists, and myotherapists in metropolitan Melbourne return to work as soon as possible. While we respect the current public health crisis that Victoria has been battling and the importance of keeping numbers down, the vital work of our members treating and managing pain needs to be recognised. The Association is imploring MPs to allow for a safe return to massage, remedial massage and myotherapy in metropolitan Melbourne as soon as is possible, for the sake of all Melburnians in need!

17.01.2022 In this afternoon's press conference, the Premier of Victoria announced a wide reopening of many industries tomorrow at midnight. 13.01.2022 To assist with contact tracing in South Australia, SA Health is introducing COVID-SAfe Check-In. From Monday 30 November, businesses with a COVID-Safe plan will receive a new plan via email that includes a QR code to print off and display in a prominent location within the business. 09.01.2022 As anticipated in our last update, the State Government have not outlined any changes to the working status of remedial massage therapists and myotherapists under the Second Step of their Roadmap to Recovery. As part of the announcements yesterday, it was revealed that the Third Step will no longer trigger on 26 October 2020 but as soon as Victoria manages to reach an average of five or fewer new cases per day and fewer than five cases with an unknown source over a span of 14... days. At this stage, the Government is estimating that will occur closer to 19 October 2020. This is not the news any of us wanted to hear today and we are fully aware how devastating these restrictions have been for our metropolitan Melbourne members. 05.01.2022 No changes for Metro Melbourne yet The Victorian Premier Dan Andrews today announced there are no changes to the metropolitan Melbourne COVID-19 restrictions, with the hope that an update will be provided in 24-48 hours. The Premier has stated ‘It is not a setback, but a cautious pause’. Massage & Myotherapy Australia will continue to monitor the situation, advocate and continue discussions with the Department of Health and Human Services. We will notify members of any updates as soon as they are available.

05.01.2022 Yesterday, the Victorian State Government announced their 'Roadmap to Reopening'. This roadmap outlines a series of steps to get Victoria back to ‘COVID Normal’. One of the major announcements from yesterday is that the metropolitan Melbourne Stage 4 restrictions have been extended by a minimum of two weeks to 28 September 2020 and will only relax if certain case-per-day goals are met. 02.01.2022 At this stage, the Department of Health Victoria has not yet provided official guidance as to when therapeutic massage, remedial massange, myotherapy and other currently restricted health sectors will be allowed to resume regular practice under Stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne. The Department of Health have indicated that they will provide further clarity next week, however we cannot specify or speculate whether massage and myotherapy will be included in that update. Rest assured we will do everything we can to obtain clarity for our profession once the update has been made and we can provide factual information.
