10.01.2022 While everyone else is celebrating some weird americanised turnout called Halloween, spare a thought for our WW1 diggers and in particular the Australian Light ...Horse and what they achieved on this day in 1917. When our young men from a young country achieved what thousands of British troops couldn’t do....800 Australians on horseback took over a town, amidst 28 artillery guns, 9 machine guns, 2 aircraft and 4400 men. The Australians killed 500 Turks and took 1500 prisoner, whilst losing 31 troopers and 70 horses. Everyone knows about Gallipoli but not many know about Beersheba. Lest we forget....
