17.01.2022 Purple Cloud Press is euphoric to make public its next Chinese medicine release; ‘The Complete Compendium of Zhang Jingyue Vol.1-3’ by Allen Tsaur. This is the ...first instalment of Purple Cloud Press Zhang Jingyue series, which aims to bring to non-Chinese readers one of the brightest minds in the history of Chinese medicine. PCP hopes a positive reception of Allen’s book will persuade him to complete a translation of the entire Compendium of Zhang Jingyue: The title is available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MWRNRPB/ PCP expresses utmost gratitude to Allen Tsaur, the editor Michael Brown, the designer Anne-Maree Taranto, and the three proof readers Will Ceurvels, Ivan Cloud and Corey Dillow who lend a fresh set of eyes to the text. Special thanks go out to the inspiring artist Jen King who produced the cover art. More of her works can be found on www.jenniferkingstudio.com. Jingyue Quanshu (Complete Compendium of Zhang Jingyue) is the culmination of the life work by the great Ming dynasty master, Zhang Jingyue (1563-1640 CE), an influential commentator of the Inner Canon, a vocal medical critic at his time, and a prominent figure of the Mingmen (Life Gate) School of Thought. This translation covers the first three volumes of Zhang Jingyue’s monumental work and provides his core doctrines and teachings, including the eight principles pattern identification, the ten diagnostic inquiries, the distinction between earlier and later heavens, and the Mingmen theory. In addition to these fundamental theories, it also presents topics such as practitioner-patient relationship, as well as his criticisms for the medical practice at his time. All of which have been highly influential to the historical development of Chinese medicine and continue to be relevant in today’s clinical practice. 10.01.2022 Materia Medica regrets to advise that we are no longer able to supply herbs during COVID-19 Level 4 Lockdown in New Zealand. According to the recent communication on 26 March 2020 from AcNZ Council: Whilst we thought that you would be able to prescribe herbs, send them via post or courier or leave them to be collected, this is no longer correct. You are now not able to send out herbs or moxa or magnets or anything else via post or courier. The government has clarified that s...ending items via the post or by courier is a vector for transmission of the virus. The post and couriers are now to be only for urgent items and strict guidelines around decontamination must be adhered to. We will be following this up with the Ministry of Health but at the moment they are still settling systems into place. Hopefully our patients have sufficient herbal preparations to last them at least into next week. We will be in touch once we can resume business as usual. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused and truly appreciate your understanding. Hoping you and your loved ones stay strong, healthy and balanced during these uncertain times. Take good care and warmest wishes from Materia Medica Limited, New Zealand

01.01.2022 Purple Cloud Instituteare very proud to announce the launch of our second book, Explanations of Channels and Points (Volume 1) by Michael Brown, now available for purchase on Amazon at the link below! Explanations of Channels and Points (Volume 1) is a Qing dynasty acupuncture commentary by Yue Hanzhen (1602-1693 CE). Despite having never been published, this work has survived owing to its historical significance. It was the first to integrate point locations and classical ch...annel pathways, thereby setting a precedent of assigning a numbering scheme to channel points. The first volume includes explanations of the points and channels of the lung, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine and bladder channels. In addition to a discussion of text, author and the various historical texts mentioned in this work. https://www.amazon.com/Explanations-Channels-//1703778715
