25.01.2022 The perfect way to end a busy school day - mindful meditation in K/1/2 led by Mrs Mac. We want our children to be healthy and happy , not just now but for the rest of their lives. And teaching them about meditation early can help them do just that! Mindful meditation has many benefits: - It gives kids the habit of focusing on the present moment and ignoring distractions. - It teaches them to stay calm in the face of lifes stressful times.... - It creates good habits for the future. When faced with lifes challenges, they know they can find peace by taking a few moments to meditate. - It promotes happiness by lowering social anxiety and stress. - It promotes patience. - It can improve executive functions in their brain like cognitive control, working memory, cognitive flexibility and better grades. - It can improve attentiveness and impulse control. 16.01.2022 At MPS Playtime is a key part of the school day! Play helps children develop language and reasoning skills, encourages autonomous thinking and problem solving as well as helping to improve their ability to focus and control their behaviour. Play aids children to learn discovery and develop verbal and manipulative skills, judgment and reasoning and creativity. Play experiences also teach children about consequences and risk, which helps them in decision making as they grow up!

03.01.2022 R U OK Day is a great time to check in with your child. Are they ok? Everyone feels sad, angry or upset sometimes, including children. But if a child feels like this most of the time, its a sign they may need help. Other signs include difficulty coping, getting on with others or staying interested in activities. About 1 in 7 children and adolescents aged 4 -17 have recently experienced a mental disorder in Australia. As a parent or concerned adult, there are some simple ste...ps you can take to support a childs mental health - taking an active interest in the child, encouraging them to talk about whats happening in their life, being aware of changes in their behaviour, and seeking professional support when needed. We encourage families to have this important conversation with their children today, and regularly throughout their childhood. See more
