17.01.2022 MORVEN - Don’t miss seeing the collection of miniature buildings at Morven Historical Museum, open 10am-12pm Mon-Fri. You will also find plenty of other interesting pieces, including a 1930’s kerosene tin hut. Make sure you visit Tregole National Park, just 10km south of town. Here you will find a small stand of ooline trees, dating back 1.6 million years. Due to extensive clearing, these trees are now vulnerable to extinction. If you are looking for somewhere to stay the night, you can’t go past Pick-a-Box Motel, with comfortable rooms and super friendly, helpful staff. The motel is also pet friendly (just call reception first prior to turning up with pooch in tow!) and even has stables for those traveling with horses
16.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions and Queenslanders now able to travel and visit the amazing Queensland outback once again, we hope that the businesses who suffered through the lockdown and are now open for business once again are starting to see some tourists come through. Be aware that some major attractions are not open yet so if there are places of interest that you have included in your travel plans, it would be best to check ahead to see if they are open. There are still ...restrictions in place to designated remote communities, so make sure you also check where you are allowed to travel. So with plenty of stunning scenery to see and National Parks to explore, why not pack up your gear and head out to explore this great outback of ours, while supporting the many businesses who are welcoming the return of visitors. Although we are all currently under tight restrictions due to COVID-19, it doesn't mean we can't plan and create a bucket list for when we're able to travel again. 07.01.2022 If you are heading out on the Warrego Hwy towards Morven or Mitchell, be sure to call in to check out these cute guys at Warrego Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation and Education Centre. It’s best to phone in advance, so make sure you give them a ring to arrange a time, you may even be able to help out with feeding the joeys Coffee is available at the café for a refresher, and their coffee van operates from 8:30-12:30 14km west out of Mungallala, just in case you don’t have time to pop in at the Centre for a chat and say hi to the joeys and ever so cute black-striped wallabies! #matildacountrymagazine
