22.01.2022 MD Kann Gamble ( Crunch) just gone 2 year old, been brought up in a large paddock with his mates. He has not been overdone and has been allowed to grow at a natural pace. He has a cheeky but lovely temperament. Crunch was the name given to him by my cousin Erin Buswell. He’s by Kanndarco out of Janiels Gamble ( Belcam Gambler) , I so do rate the Belcam bred horses and their all here in Australia . I have five brood mares that have heavy influence of the Belcam geno type and all have exceptional temperaments.

12.01.2022 Matilda Downs would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lamont family for looking after Oaks Quickstep so well and for the way that Sammi Lamont has competed with great success on my behalf, I couldn’t have chosen a better young rider to represent me.Sammi your preparation, becoming accustomed to riding and competing with Quickstep and achieving wonderful results with Quick are a credit to your skill and the devotion you have shown to the task of taking on this lovely jumping mare. I can’t articulate in words the gratitude I have towards yourself and your family .

11.01.2022 Kinnordy Grandola was bred to Finch Farms Calgary GNZ day before yesterday and twins, one was popped and at this stage the other looks good , so Dr Kate at West Coast Vets advises me.

10.01.2022 Two awesome fillies at Matilda Downs, MD Ingrid by Yalambi’s Incognito VDL , two in January and MD Sarah C Balou by Balou du Rouet out of the Gymnastik Star mare Kinnordy Grandola, one year old.

09.01.2022 Matilda Downs TB Wild Ocean (Lottie) competed with Hayley Terry at Yalambi this weekend gone, 3 clear rounds and and one rail down in the jump off. This mare carried a foal full term and foaled in January 2020, weaned in July and back under saddle, a great effort by Lottie, considering she hasn’t been ridden for over 2 years. Hope to see her progress to bigger and better things next season with strength training and coaching, a lovely strong willed brave mare that is a joy to own, she has spirit and her colt is developing nicely. She is by the Irish stallion Verglas , who was by the famous French stallion Kenmare. My next stallion of choice to join with Lottie will be an Irish Draught.

08.01.2022 Sammi Lamont and Oaks Quickstep 3rd in the Young rider 125, congratulations Sammi Lamont and Quickstep

05.01.2022 Matilda Downs will be represented at Yalambi Farm show jumping by Matilda Downs’s Oaks Quickstep ridden by Sammi Lamont and Matilda Downs Wild Ocean TB ridden by Hayley Terry. Wild Ocean has not been ridden for 2 years after bringing up her first foal. I wish both riders and horses the best of luck and just enjoy the event and I look forward to a report shared to me, good bad or indifferent.

05.01.2022 MD Walker de Vene , black going grey colt , nearly 2 years old. By Arvada Charleston ( Belcam Charlton) out of TB Blonde Option ( Immovable Option) dame dam to my 2020 ISH foal. He is up for sale , moves well in trot, walk and canter. Suit SJ or eventing. Needs a little more handling and float training and will be gelded. Has a nice temperament and will mature 16:2. 03.01.2022 MD Keltic Persuasion ISH colt one month old , by Cushavon Park Kalin Ri out of TB Blonde Option. Mums food is of his liking and growing out with such lovely athletic lines.

02.01.2022 Just want to articulate , the joy of having some very special people that are involved, making a big commitment, with the Matilda Downs horses. I do so appreciate all your collective efforts in training and fostering healthy partnerships with all the charges. All of you are humble and so decent and talented equestrians, brings a great deal of joy to my quite lonely life, living on a farm surrounded by my horses and dogs. Plan is to come and enjoy watching you all, when time permits. The eventers Sarah Clark, Hannah Wilding and Teki Wilde, the show Jumpers Cassie Easthope and Erin Buswell and my good friend Debby Van Trigt, and not forgetting my Instagram manager and one day rider Rebecca Vescovo . Thanks to my barefoot farrier Belinda Taylor for the professional job keeping my brood mares and foals feet in such good shape.
