22.01.2022 Mental security requires a constructive sense of self. 1. Evaluate your core belief system. When our beliefs are unproductive & inaccurate, they block our ability to create the lives we want. Notice where you feel your life is blocked and identify any core beliefs you have about yourself, life, etc. If you hear your inner voice using definitive words such as never must always, youve stumbled on a core belief. Challenge your core beliefs with questions such as is t...hat true? How do I know its true? What if its not true?. 2. Practice substituting negative thoughts with productive thoughts. Productive thoughts are realistic and empower you with ideas how to move forward. 3. Mental strength requires acceptance of ALL your emotions Acceptance of all your emotions enables you to choose how you want to respond, even if its contrary to your emotions. Mental strength means you tolerate emotions you dont want to feel because they do not control you. It also means practicing behaving like the person you want to become, rather than settling with who you are now. 4. Recognize & celebrate your progress DAILY. 09.01.2022 EQ & emotional self-awareness - Part 2 of 6 Viewing your emotions as good/bad, is not fortifying you with a strong sense of self. Try this exercise this week:... Step 1. Identify the emotion. Pick out one emotion by sitting in a quiet room without distraction & scan your body from head to toe slowly & notice, the physical sensations & thoughts that arise. This should only take 5 minutes. Focus on one emotion that feels particularly strong & zone in on it. Name this emotion. Step 2. Put space between you & your emotion. Close your eyes & imagine yourself taking your emotion outside of your body and placing it five feet in front of you. Look at & observe your emotion with your eyes closed. What colour is your emotion? What size is it? What shape is it? Imagine your emotion with the colour, size and shape. Step 3. Reflect. Reflect on the experience of observing your emotion. Did you notice how you felt when you put some distance between you & your emotion? Did the colour, shape and size change the longer you observed it? Did your reaction to your emotion change? Practice this exercise daily. Learn to befriend ALL your emotions as feedback & a compass in navigating through life. Stay safe. Stay connected. 05.01.2022 EQ & Emotional self-awareness exercise part 2/6 1. Still Your Mind Find a place of solitude. Breath into your diaphragm & slowly breathe out. Repeat 12 times. Park your inner chatter. This makes room for a change of attitude. 2. Focus on what inspires you Redirect your mind deliberately & zero into that moment when you were inspired. Stay there. Our thoughts make our moods.... 3. Choose the mood you want & adopt that body language E.g., to be in a centered mood. Sit up straight, stretch your arms high above your head, & maintain that posture for 30 seconds. Its impossible to be in bad mood with wide open lungs. 4. Concentrate on gratitude and appreciation Without gratitude & appreciation, its hard to dream because you wont be able to measure accurately when you get, what you want. Its OK to be happy & sad, as it is OK to feel challenged & be thankful simultaneously. 5. Practice accepting reality Peace of mind when you accept reality & only then are you equipped to deal with reality. 6. Understand consequences If you stay in the non-constructive attitude. You stay in what you already have.
