25.01.2022 NEW CEO - Nikki Meredith We are always encouraged to talk about our work and careers to identify who we are, but in reality it is our family, our upbringing and our values that form the basis of our identity, so this is where I am going to start. I was born in South Africa and moved to Port Lincoln with my parents and 3 siblings when I was 12. I met my husband when I was 18 and we had 3 wonderful children. Unfortunately, he became ill and passed away in 2007. The children ...are all adults now and I am excited to say that I am soon to become an Ouma. I have had various roles over the past 30 years, juggling raising children, family and life events with studying and working. My business management experience has spanned over the past 20 years, with my most recent role being the Practice Manager of the Investigator Clinic. Having been involved in primary health care and growing up as the daughter of a country GP, I am passionate about the delivery of health services in the Community and the Region, realizing that it comes with a particular set of challenges not faced by our city counterparts. Saying that our small community offers an extraordinary level of care, compassion and sense of family that makes us unique. I am pleased to be joining Matthew Flinders Care Services as CEO and look forward to meeting everyone and the exciting challenges coming up with the Matthew Flinders Home redevelopment.

20.01.2022 We are so lucky and thankful to receive some twiddle mats and muffs all the way from the USA. These were kindly donated by Jasmin and her mum who heard about our organisation through a Port Lincoln contact and made these for our Care Recipients. The ladies thought they were beautiful and are very thankful. We will send Jasmin and her mum a thank you card and some small momentos from Port Lincoln. We are so grateful for such kindness

20.01.2022 Some exciting updates for our Care Recipients regarding visiting and amendments to the visiting restrictions today!! We were advised today by the State Coordinator that new amendments to the COVID-19 Emergency Plan for Aged Care are effective from today. The changes are outlined below: - Visiting hours are Sunday 11-4pm Monday-Friday 10-4pm. These times enable our admin staff to effectively screen visitors. - Visiting is still 1 visit per day per Care Recipient of up to 2 peo...ple for 2 hours max. Visits must be in the CR room or in a non communual room away from others. - Children under 16 can now visit with evidence of a 2020 FLUVAX to be provided as with all visitors. - Care Recipients can leave the facility other than for medical appointments or exercise and will be screened on return. - Pets are welcome with recent Vet health clearance and up to date vaccination evidence. To ensure we are meeting all the requirements of the direction, screening on entry is still required. We appreciate the understanding and patience of all our visitors and Care Recipients and thankyou for your support through this challenging time. See more

19.01.2022 Care Recipients from MFH attended a recent SALT Festival show - "The Brass Monkeys". From the very front row in the Nautilus Theatre, we watched and clapped along to an amazing musical duo performing jaw dropping acrobatics. After the show we were treated to a special visit from the performers. We appreciated the generous accommodation for our needs by the staff of SALT, and the wonderful hospitality of a volunteer, Karen, who looked after us, and being able to see such a professional and world class show right here, in Port Lincoln!

14.01.2022 If you are planning a visit to a residential aged care facility, ensure you meet the criteria and be mindful of the restrictions to protect vulnerable people wi...thin our community. To be permitted to visit you must: Have documentation of your flu vaccination Have no symptoms of illness Have not travelled overseas or interstate in the last 14 days Be over 16 years old (unless providing end of life support to a resident) If you are able to visit, you can now go for a walk with your relative, as residents are able to leave the site for exercise (within 500m of the facility). Visitors providing professional services to residents, such as hairdressers, can also visit. If you are looking for a residential aged care facility for your relative, you can also visit along with the prospective resident. The Care Recipients were pleased to be able to honour family and friends who fought in war.
