19.01.2022 It's on again! The 4th annual massed saxophone event is happening at WAAPA on the 3rd and 5th of September. We had over 80 sax players participate last year - let's make it 100! 14.01.2022 Every now and then, a student comes along who has 'that something'. Currently doing a Master's with me at WAAPA, Jazmin Ealden has once again impressed with her professionalism and natural talent. So very proud. Congratulations Jazmin!
13.01.2022 While one of our crew currently farms, eats and drinks his way through Italy with his lovely wife, the rest of FSO will be appearing with 5 more saxes (!!!) AND a guest artist from the UK (?....) AND the Russell Holmes Trio on Tuesday 16th June at the Ellington - seriously - how much more saxophonic goodness do you want???
13.01.2022 Phew!!! In the last 3 weeks: Ballet, classical recital, jazz/cabaret/french chanson gig, MD'ing Waapa sax showcase rehearsals and concert, great jazz gig at Carey recitals.. Next cross-genre show at chamber jan this mon- is there any wonder I'm confused? Oh, then there's my real job....

10.01.2022 The 14-piece saxophone powerhouse - Basement Saxx - will head up a night of sensational saxophone music on Thursday 25th October. The Music Auditorium at WAAPA is the venue where you'll hear me direct some of most exciting saxophone talents including the premiere performances of 2 new saxophone quartets - "ALODDA SAX" and "SPECTACLE". 02.01.2022 Yep, it's not a rumour....because of a very generous private benefactor and the ECU Vice Chancellor, WAAPA is about to take ownership of........yep..... a BASS SAX!!!!! Now we have from sopranino to Bass. Look out world - the music is going to be awesome!!!
02.01.2022 Really proud of the sax students last night. Basement Saxx, the quartets and mike bednall did a brilliant job getting through some tricky, tricky pieces. Brilliant job guys-really proud of you all.
