I’ve experienced many public tantrums, and a few double tantrums (when both decide to lose it at the same time ... good times ),and the good news is tantrums are normal and healthy. As uncomfortable as they are, emotional outbursts are OK. Try to sit down, keep them safe from harm, and listen. When they begin to calm down, ask as warmly as possible Are you still thinking about the sandwich I cu...t the wrong way? Try not to make a distraction and ignore their feelings, more acknowledge their frustration and understand that in that moment in their little minds, yes that sandwich was the worst thing imaginable.
