25.01.2022 To everyone else who participated the past 21days to get to the goal of 3046 push ups. Big .

24.01.2022 A huge push the last couple of weeks getting this cladding done. Just got a few finishing boards to go now. Starting to look like a house now. Gables start tomorrow! Super excited for these bad boys.

24.01.2022 This is by far the biggest statement in the house between the brushed brass, American oak, paint selections the humongous raking ceiling and the 2 velux skylights over a 3.2m x 1m island bench. This thing is slowly coming together and I cannot wait for the coming weeks to put the pieces together to finalize this area. Stay tuned for the reveal!

22.01.2022 The roof is done The roof has been one of the most testing things I have even done whilst working, from working with materials that I dont use daily and also being on a 30 degree pitch has not been kind to my legs and ankles. Fighting with Mother Nature and not being able to control the torrential down pours and severe winds was by far the most frustrating part of the job. This build has really taken it out of me as I have not stopped and having wo...rked almost everyday since August last year, it has finally caught up. For the next month Im going to spend some time with the family and kids and then I will get back into the swing of it. The next stage will be an exciting time with the cladding going on to close the house up and to be able to start the next stage of ripping the existing house to shreds. Thanks to all the boys, you all know who you are and the my amazing wife for helping me through the build so far. I could not have done it without you guys there for me.

22.01.2022 Some updated pics from over the xmas break. Got stuck into getting the deck sanded and coated and some more tie down and roof framing done.

22.01.2022 The front of the house is well underway now. Stay tuned as once some walls are up the front will change dramatically. Along with a new roof over the entire house not long after that. #tortiseandthehare #seemslikeatortiseatthemoment

20.01.2022 Getting it done! Thanks for the help over the weekend guys. Without your help I would still have framing for my ceiling. Starting to edge closer and closer now. Its a great feeling when you hit a milestone.

20.01.2022 Huge day today, had a good friend of mine give me a hand for the day. Big thanks to Robert for helping out and also for the lovely singing. Also a big thanks to the boss, aka my wife steph for helping out while the kids were occupied or sleeping. Every little bit gets us closer to putting a roof on and to start the fun stuff doing the cladding and the inside of the house.

17.01.2022 Lately I have been getting my fitness levels up thanks to my best mate @nick_fraser_aus together we started doing the push up challenge (3046 push up in 21days, got 5days left) along with that I have been running each night. Tonight was a massive achievement for myself as I ran 10km for the first time in my life. Just thought Id share for something a bit different to my usual renovation pics.

15.01.2022 Today is a huge day! Final for the house now done! I could not be more proud of what myself and my amazing wife @steph_vlismas have achieved over the past 2 years. To everyone that has helped out and has worked on this build I appreciate everything you guys have done.

15.01.2022 Today was another milestone for the house. All soffits and gables are now completed. Doing raking soffits and working with gables 17ft up has its challenges. Especially when you are working alone. Outside is not that far off from being ready to prep and paint.

15.01.2022 There are challenges in life that test us. Some of them can be solved with a bit of thinking. However, the rain is something that cannot be controlled. It is at this time I wish I had a roof over my head instead of a few tarps. I dont think that downlights are suppose to drip water from them. Nor is cornice suppose to leak water down the walls. Luckily I ordered the roofing materials today. Hopefully have a lid on soon.

12.01.2022 Exciting times for myself and my family with the renovation of our own home. We are doubling the size of the house to give the kids and also us some of our own space. A few shots of the progress so far

11.01.2022 A huge day and an even bigger milestone. The bedrooms are now complete. With the guys from @andersensflooring down in wynnum Alan and Brad looking after me, thank you both for everything. Massive thanks to the boys from @charged_electrical for bringing these spaces to life with the lighting supplied from @beaconlighting. Big credit also to @brettstrade for supplying the goods for me to be able to build such rooms. Last but not least my amazing wife, @steph_vlismas for her eye for design, and for putting the the incredibly hard and long hours it has taken to get to this stage. Coming up next and wont be to far away will be kitchen, living, hallway and lounge.

09.01.2022 After about 15 hours over the weekend of painting alone, the master is almost complete. The gloss work to go and then carpet. Absolutely love the ceiling in here

08.01.2022 After a huge 11hr day yesterday and having help from my father in law, wife and 2 Of the older aged neighbors lugging a few hundred roof tiles down stairs while I worked to get the existing roof cut out and the new roof framed up and tied down, I can now say the right side roof framing is complete. Left side to go and then we are so close to getting some sheets on and getting rid of the tarps. I can almost taste a watertight roof again.

05.01.2022 What a weekend! Thanks Nick for lending a hand on Saturday and to my old man for the hard work today, hopefully you both can walk properly and arent to sore. I know that I am in a word of pain right now. Roof sheets have started to go on and I am beyond excited! Gotta love a colorbond roof especially when its in a Matt finish.

05.01.2022 Hey dad, I dug a hole Who needs a machine to dig holes when you have determination on your side. A bit of hard work and sweat never hurt anyone. 2 x 350mm holes 1300mm deep and 1 x 450mm hole 1500mm deep Dug by hand ready for inspection and concrete next week.

04.01.2022 Saturday was a very daunting day for me, demo, build, tie down, fascia and gutters, battened, insulated and sheeting all in a day. The rain went around me a few times but didnt hit. It was a magnificent feeling on Saturday evening when the last roofing screw went in at 5.00pm. Thanks so much again to Robert Taute for the help. We officially have a roof over our head again. Now its time for a couple of weeks off before the next huge stage - cladding. To all the boys who helped thank you. To my neighbors for putting up with the noise and the tarps, thank you. To my amazing wife for putting up with me while this stage has pushed me to the limit, thank you, you are amazing and I appreciate everything you do for me and our family.

02.01.2022 Motivation, dedication and drive will let you achieve your goals. I set my goals at the start of the year and I have absolutely thrashed them. Tonight I achieved something that I thought would be near impossible for me to achieve. I am doing this so I can be the father to my kids like my dad was to me. Athletic, motivated and caring. My kids deserve the best from me. My wife is my inspiration, without her I would be well and truly in dad bod mode. Amongst all I am doing this for me, I want to be the best version of me I can be. Half marathon I am coming for you.
