23.01.2022 We proudly promote David and Sandi Simons Training. Sandi's You Tube clip here gives some useful tips for floating your horse. Always safety first. And that includes making sure your float is not only roadworthy, but also safe for your horse. Solid, sturdy floors and no protrusions that could injure your horse. https://youtu.be/s7BvaxMucsc

22.01.2022 Can't say it enough... You've got to keep your float and tow vehicle maintained and serviced! https://www.facebook.com/Prime7NewsBorder/videos/1347454492014750/

21.01.2022 FLOAT SAFETY CHECK LIST SHARE TO KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE... Whilst this is not everything you need for a check list, it does give you some food for thought....Continue reading

18.01.2022 We are wanting to let our customers know that we are changing some things effective from this week. Greg will be limiting his work to services and minor repairs associated with services. Greg will also still be doing pre purchase inspections. Cheers Greg and Jan Henderson.

18.01.2022 A simple mechanism to allow centre divider to be swung across and still close breaching doors. Often over looked as a feature but very handy.

16.01.2022 This is one big sucker tail gate that is now a breeze to open and close thanks to having some NEW GAS STRUTS fitted.

14.01.2022 What can happen when moisture can get under the rubber? Take a look at this float... looks good except the joins had started to break down. Moisture collects under the rubber and the rot sets in. Unsound and unsafe. Greg is replacing the floor with galvanized sheets then Australian form ply. ( cheaper Chinese form ply is not water resistant ) Then replacing rubber and resealing joins.

12.01.2022 Don’t judge a book by it’s cover .. The importance of making sure you have a sound and safe float. Unfortunately some brand new floats may look great but are structurally less sound than a good quality second hand float of equal price.

10.01.2022 Luckily Greg was on the (tow) ball tonight. Looks like someone tried to pinch the tow hitch but failed. The pin that holds the tow hitch on had been removed, but they didn't get the tow hitch out . THE SCARY THING IS THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE NOTICED THE PIN WAS MISSING UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE, AND MY FLOAT WOULD BE LEFT DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. Now have ordered an anti-theft pin. And - note to self- to put another thing on the list of things to check when I hook up the float.

09.01.2022 So, it’s Jan here. Showing you what can happen without a bit of regular float maintenance. Little bit longer and this could have been a disaster. Fire or wheels dropping off? Which would be your nightmare ? This is from part of the suspension. Please note that the video is done by 3 non experts. Me and the two dogs. So there is a distinct lack of technical expertise. I just want you to BE SAFE!!!

08.01.2022 Whilst you can never guarantee against a break down of your vehicle or float, there are things that you can do to help avoid the danger of having an emergency stop or a floating disaster. The main thing is to have a safe, roadworthy and well maintained vehicle/truck/float. Here are a few things to consider. Firstly that your vehicle is suitable and legal to tow your float.. Apart from the fact that often insurance companies wont pay if you are towing a float that your car i...s not legally allowed to, it is risky and puts yourself and other road users in danger. There are good websites that can help clarify (or confuse you even more!) about what is legal. You do need to know what your vehicle CAN LEGALLY tow and HOW MUCH your float weighs. The TARE is the weight of your float UNLOADED. The GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is the maximum carrying capacity, including the weight of the actual float. So if the GVM is 2 tonne and your float weights 1.5 tonne, you are only legally allowed to carry 500kgs of gear and horse. Also the BALL WEIGHT of your vehicle.. This is the amount of downward pressure your vehicle can handle from your float. This is usually listed on a small silver plate on the tow bar itself of in your owner’s manual of the vehicle. ...a few See more

07.01.2022 Worth sharing again for float safety

07.01.2022 Another reminder to keep your floats checked regularly .

06.01.2022 BE FIRE READY Kudos to one of our customers who prepared early for the summer. They booked their float in to be serviced in preparation for what is looking to be a horrendous fire season with all the growth we've had through the spring. Now is the perfect time to make sure you have yourself organised for the upcoming fire season. Having your float roadworthy and ready in the event of needing to relocate your horses ( if that is a part of your fire plan. )... There would be nothing more traumatic than having a break down when you are moving your horses. Or imagine in a high fire danger period, if it was your float wheels that caught on fire due to being poorly maintained. ALSO... Seems obvious, but making sure that your horses are well trained in floating so that you can load them quickly and easily when you have to. http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au//horses/horses_and_bushfires.pdf See more

06.01.2022 ATTENTION ATTENTION!!! A lucky escape for a lovely woman and her horse when her float caught on fire whilst traveling home on the East link Freeway. Megan's wheels caught on fire and she had to get her horse off with traffic traveling at 100km past her. Then she called 000 to have 3 fire trucks and 2 police cars attend.Taffic was closed in 2 lanes, Megan was helped by a kind couple as she waited over an hour for another float to arrive to take Riley home. Testament to the... good training Megan put in through the week that Riley was not a danger to himself or others. We are proud to be associated with David and Sandi Simons who value the importance of training and floating your horse safely with well maintained floats. It is a credit to Megan's training she had put in with her horse Riley last week with Sandi that this dangerous situation was no where near as disastrous as it could have been. We can't stress enough the importance of keeping your float well maintained, checked and serviced regularly by and experienced, skilled and qualified mechanic. There are many things that can go wrong with your float to cause a fire starting. Hydraulic brakes that are poorly maintained, leaking or low brake fluid can cause brakes to fail which can ultimately cause fire. Wheel bearings which need to be pulled apart, inspected and washed require a skilled mechanic to pick up the subtle changes which can cause failure. (Despite best intentions, unless you know what you are doing, sometimes bearings are best left for the experts. ) Overheated bearings can seize up and then ignite . Electric brakes also need to be adjusted to make sure they are working optimally. Any time you have friction, you run the risk of fire. Greg is a qualified, experienced highly skilled mechanic who is also a float repairer. He offers pre-purchase float inspections. We recommend to invest in your float ( sometimes that means upgrading to a safer/better float ... You almost never lose money on a float ) And we want to remind you that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

03.01.2022 Make sure in your float tool kit you check that the wheel brace you have will suit the wheels on the float. Don't rely on the one for the car as they are often a different size. There would be nothing more annoying than being stranded with a flat tyre on your float only to find you don't have the right size wheel brace with you. ... Oh, and make sure when you check tyre pressure that you check the spare as well!

03.01.2022 Not only did this float get a new custom made storm cover, Greg gave it some struts that hold it ajar for extra ventilation in those hot days travelling. Love it!

01.01.2022 Well worth reading for anyone who tows floats or caravans .
