Tuesday 24th March at 7.30pm Room 1.03 Mawson Centre (note that this is next to our usual room)... All welcome ... stay afterwards for a cuppa and a chat.

21.01.2022 Due to the rapidly and constantly changing circumstances in relation to COVID 19 (Corona virus) and the recommendation of maintaining social distancing, it has been decided to cancel our March (Tuesday 24th) meeting. While disappointing, your health and well being is of paramount importance. We will keep you posted regarding future events. 20.01.2022 Yesterdays visit to Kate and Hughs lilium garden at Stirling was magnificent, some liliums were 9 foot high! For those who couldnt make it yesterday, Kate will be speaking at the February 25th meeting twill be very informative.

19.01.2022 The Mawson Lakes UniSA Community Garden is looking magnificent. Flowers are blooming and the leaves on the fruit trees have yet to change colour and fall. The garden club wicking bed has been revamped and we have planted one lone broccoli plant amongst the calendula, holly hocks, basil and parsley, but maybe we'll add a cauliflower seedling beside it. Stay well, take care and enjoy this magnificent autumn weather ... great days for gardening.

19.01.2022 In case you cant guess this is a magic bean plant (castanospermum australe)! It is an Australian native coastal rainforest tree and can grow to 40mtrs in the right conditions. It makes an ideal indoor plant and will tolerate low light to full sun and makes an impressive display when a number of beans are planted in a pot.

17.01.2022 Here are some photos of Wendy Whiteleys secret garden in Lavender Bay. Wendy is an artist in her own right but is also the wife Brett Whiteley, the Archibald prize winner. Wendy created this garden on waste land in front of her house leading down to the railway line. Guerrilla gardener extraordinaire. Its a beautiful tranquil hillside.

13.01.2022 Tonight is our last meeting for 2018! George Hoad, President of Garden Clubs of Australia will be our guest speaker. Hear about GCA and some of George's travels and join us for some riotous singing. Bring a Kris Kringle to the value of $10, have the chance to win a door prize, join in the auction for a vertical garden and bring a favourite Christmas ornament to display or just bring some Christmas cheer.... It will be a jam packed night with supper as a finale! Happy Christmas to all!!

11.01.2022 Tonight it's our AGM which will be short sharp and shiny, to be followed by Michael Smith presenting his great grandfather's photos of Adelaide and Environs from 1880 -1910 taken on old glass plates ... it will be a fascinating view of Adelaide way before our times! Come along and enjoy. Our COVID Safe Plan will be in place, sanitise your hands prior to entry and then after signing in etc. Seats will be spaced widely, but if you are unwell at all please stay at home and recuperate safely and we will see you another time. Thank you.

09.01.2022 Pete and I did some watering and weeding in the UniSA Community Garden this afternoon. We came home with some tomatoes from our wicking bed (courtesy of Meg planting these) and some Warrigal Greens that I will cook up tonight.

Managing the shapes of wayward plants and creating beauty from the natural form of shrubs and trees was discussed and demonstrated enthusiastically. Our next meeting is the 23 April at 7.30, the topic, `Roses and More' by Gavin Woods. Room 1.05 ground floor, Mawson Centre. Everyone welcome ... see you there!

08.01.2022 Some trees are beginning to show all their magnificent autumn colours. This tree is at the western end of Shearwater Lake and one of the first to change colour.

07.01.2022 Our wicking bed at the Mawson lakes UniSA Community Garden is going great guns! The basil is looking good, we have a zucchini and the tomato bush is doing well.

06.01.2022 Our next Social Event is on 26th February at 7.30pm in room 1.05 in the Mawson Centre. We have a change of room this year. It is on the ground floor. Turn right through the computer section as you enter from University Parade. The topic is Anlaby Station which is a beautiful old (dating from 1841) merino stud situated north of Kapunda. The homestead has been restored to it's former glory and work continues on the gardens and the station. Everyone very welcome should be an interesting night.

05.01.2022 What a great night last night ... plenty of Christmas cheer and lots of fun and laughter! George Hoad President of Garden Clubs of Australia provided insight into GCA and then led us in a round of Christmas Carols just to get the Christmas spirit alive and active!! The auction of the vertical garden kit added to the fun as did the Kris Kringle, lucky door prize and mystery theme which was of course a Christmas ornament. Merry Christmas all! First meeting for 2019 is on 26th February in room MC 1-05 and Andrew Morphett from Anlaby Station will be talking.
