15.01.2022 When things are tough, the arts are there for us. They give us a way to escape for a while. We can feel something outside of our immediate reality. It is a wonderful thing to find escape in enjoying the artistic offerings of others. Right now, we don’t have that opportunity and I for one cannot wait for interval to be over so we can return to the activities that make us buzz: things like attending the theatre, rehearsing a show, and supporting the arts. Right now, we can loo...k to ourselves to feel something outside of our immediate reality. Turn up the volume and dance like a crazy person in your living room. Close the door to the world and sing your heart out to express your joy, your heartache, your everything that matters to you. Music lets you become your own escape artist.

09.01.2022 I thought it a good idea to share a personal story of mine to highlight the importance of prioritising vocal health.

07.01.2022 It's a word that can strike fear in a singer more than any other - AUDITIONS. But here's a little secret - they need not be hell on earth. It all comes down to two crucial things: preparedness personal goals... Walk into the room knowing your chosen songs as well as you know your own name. Rehearse them till you can't get them wrong - that way, when the inevitable nerves kick in, so too will your muscle memory. Now for the big one - set your own goals. Don't let the panel's final decision determine whether or not your audition was a success. Walk in there with your own personal checklist - confidently nail that high note, execute that long phrase in one breath, deliver that line with perfect comic timing - and then YOU can determine how successful you were under pressure. Auditions may be scary, but you can make friends with the process.

06.01.2022 Which song is at the top of your "man, I love that song and I really wish I could sing it" list? Waving Through a Window? The Glamorous Life? Defying Gravity?... How do you get good at singing that hard song? First up, SING IT!!!! And enjoy the pants off of singing it. Sure, it may have some parts that are rough around the edges, but have a go. Figure out which bits present the biggest challenges, and set yourself a series of smaller tech goals to begin meeting the demands of the song. Once you've broken it down, take the song to your teacher for additional help and guidance. KEEP SINGING THE HARD SONG and having fun with it and practice, practice, PRACTICE
