25.01.2022 We want to get our communities back to normality as soon as we possibly can. Council's Recovery Committee is already working on how we will get back on track on...ce we have the all-clear. This includes delivering the events and all the benefits that come along with them. Have a listen and please tune into the updates from Barcaldine Regional Council CEO for the latest. Cheers Rob. #COVID19 Rapad See more

25.01.2022 It is my privilege to have been able to serve the Barcaldine Region as Mayor for the past 12 years. As you may well know, I am stepping up for another term, ready to continue to serve our community and Council as we move forward through the rewarding and trying times together. I am a local through and through. I love what I do, and I love every corner of this region. This is backed up by my contacts and experience that will keep us moving in the right direction. I would hate ...to see the good work and achievements of our communities, individuals and Council over the last few years derailed. We need to keep up the momentum locally, and to stay loud and proud as we fight for our fair share of the State and Federal pie. I’m already in the fight, with over a decade’s experience and networks behind me, and don’t doubt that I’ve still got plenty more rounds in me yet. It can be a tough job when the major focus of Governments is on the South East corner of the State. But my job, with Council’s blessing, has has afforded me the opportunity to chase that pie which has delivered on average around $20 million a year to our region. We need this kind of connected leadership to keep this coming; to get us through the good and bad times as well as keep the business of Council ticking along. The current system of community resilience and workforce support in our communities will not waiver under my leadership and we will spend every available dollar on our road network. Please take a look at the attached page at some of my commitments for your community. Finally, I’d like to acknowledge my fellow councillors who have also been the key to our successes. All serving Councillors over the past 12 years can be proud of the fact we have kept our offices and depots in all communities while maintaining our workforce. This has been achieved by cohesive and fair decisions of Council. We only have one vote each and we have been a committee of seven. We’ll be welcoming at least three newly elected Councillors this term. You can rest assured that I have the experience to hit the ground running and bring the new Council together as a strong team working for the betterment of our five communities. Enough of my words. Take a look at the attached page at just some of the projects that have been achieved during my tenure - there is so much more that we can do to create liveability and visitation to our communities. Cheers Rob.

24.01.2022 This toilet paper crisis is pretty serious. In Muttaburra, Aramac and Barcaldine we have STPs ( sewerage treatment plants ) and in Alpha and Jericho all households have septic systems. Flushing any foreign objects instead of using toilet paper will create havoc, especially the STPs, for our guys that service them. Surely the shortage will be sorted soon by suppliers and the shops will soon be able to cope with demand.

16.01.2022 The lead up to this election has been unlike any other. Now as we deal with the COVID-19 it's clipped our wings a bit and I can't get out to see you all as much... as I would normally. So I've taken to the video again for an update. As ballot papers have arrived I ask for your support to continue as the leader in our community as we face an unprecedented situation in responding to this pandemic. Take care and heed authorities' advice, please. Cheers Rob See more

12.01.2022 G'day. I've been asked a few times whether I have a Facebook page - so there's no time like the present! As we get set to fill in our local govt election ballots, follow along for more information on why you should for Mayor Barcaldine Regional Council.
