23.01.2022 An Indonesian Air Force T-50i was departing from Madiun-Iswahyudi airport when it aborted take-off and skidded off the runway. The rear crew member ejected successfully whilst the front crew member stayed with the aircraft. Both crew members were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

23.01.2022 An iconic aerial parade is taking place tomorrow over the Hudson River in New York at around 09:30. There's going to be 26 Martin-Baker seats in this formation ...and we're challenging anyone in the area to get photos! Tag us in your pictures and hashtag #hudsonflight. Our favourite photo will win a prize! http://martin-baker.com//26-martin-baker-ejection-seats-i/

21.01.2022 The obituary of Jo Lancaster, Ejectee #1, in today's Daily Telegraph. An incredible man and forever a part of Martin-Baker history, R.I.P.

20.01.2022 We were recently informed of a double ejection that occurred on 13th May 2019 - The Iranian F-14A Tomcat suffered a hydraulic failure and subsequently lost control at 170kts and 200ft. Both crew ejected successfully and were recovered without injury.

20.01.2022 10 years ago today Mike Ling (the longest serving Red Arrow pilot) ejected from his Hawk in Crete during a training accident. There is a fantastic article (link below) where Mike recounts his story. https://www.rafbf.org//squadron-leader-mike-ling-mid-air-c

20.01.2022 "On 5 October 1972, while flying as a WSO in an F-4E on a fast fac (Wolf fac) mission, Martin-Baker saved my life. We were hit while doing 500 plus knots at abo...ut 2500 feet with about three gs on the jet. The seat worked perfectly." Rick "Wolf" Bates, Ejectee #4725 For the full story: http://martin-baker.com/2020/06/29/rick-wolf-bates/

19.01.2022 We received a great testimonial from a USMC seat mechanic. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to saving lives! "It gives me great pleasure with sharing... my experience as a Martin-Baker ejection seat mechanic. Ive been serving in Marine Aviation for over 24 years, in which I spent 13 years working on the SJU-5 and SJU-17 ejection seats. During those 13 years I assisted and inspected countless ejection seats on the F/A-18 Hornet, and had the privilege to serve alongside some of the best mechs in the Corps. A day doesnt go by that I dont reflect with great pride that I was and still am a MB seat mech!" William NECK Hetrick Jr. http://martin-baker.com/pilots-maintainers/maintainers/

19.01.2022 On January 29, 2005, I was making my first night trap in the fleet onboard USS Kitty Hawk as a brand new nugget pilot in a F/A-18F Super Hornet. On the trap,... the #3 arresting cable parted and I felt the jet buck forward and accelerate as I saw the lights of the edge of the landing area passing under my nose gear at 48 knots: Even as an inexperienced Lieutenant Junior Grade, I knew it was time to eject. The SJU-17A (Mk 14) NACES ejection seat saved my life that night, despite ejecting on the ragged edge of the published envelope. Three days later, I strapped back into another F/A-18F and flew again with total confidence, that should the worst happen again, I could implicitly trust the NACES ejection seat to keep me alive, safe and sound Jon Willem Vanbragt, Ejectee #5442

18.01.2022 An Afghan Air Force A-29 Super Tucano was on a solo mission from Hamid Karzai airport in Kabul when it suffered a technical problem and crashed in Doshi district in North Eastern Afghanistan. The US Air Force pilot ejected successfully and was picked up shortly after.

17.01.2022 We were recently made aware of a double Ejectee that we did not have on record, Col. Chang of the Republic of China Air Force (ROCAF). Col. Chang ejected twice ...during his service in the ROCAF, firstly in 1990 from a Starfighter and then again from another Starfighter in 1993. Sadly, Col. Chang passed away in 2015 and never applied for his Ejection Tie Club membership. The ROCAF official that recently made us aware of these ejections also told us how much it would mean to Col. Chang's family for us to send through his Ejection Tie Club pack posthumously, so we have prepared a pack in his honour and sent it out to his family.

16.01.2022 A USMC F-35B made contact with a KC-130J during air-to-air refuelling, resulting in the crash of the F-35B. The pilot ejected successfully.

16.01.2022 "My sincere thanks to everyone at Martin-Baker, past and present, for making ejection seats that save lives. On October 25, 1994, while on approach to USS Abra...ham Lincoln, we lost power in our left engine 8 to 10 seconds before landing and our F-14A subsequently departed from controlled flight. I ejected at approximately 60 feet above sea level, rolling through 70 degree left angle of bank. I was out of position for ejection when I grabbed the lower handle, so my head was pinned to my chest throughout the ejection sequence, which provided an excellent view of seat-man separation and parachute deployment. The seat worked flawlessly." Matthew "Shaggy" Klemish, Ejectee #4736 http://martin-baker.com/2019/09/24/matthew-shaggy-klemish/

16.01.2022 "I keyed the ICS and said prepare to eject to my B/N. At the coastline I said Eject, Eject, Eject. My B/N went first. I felt the heat of his seats rocke...t and the windblast as he went through the canopy. Our jet was now in a slight descent passing 700ft AGL. I straightened my back, put my feet flat, elbows in and pulled with my left hand, taking my right hand off the control stick and putting it on my left wrist at the last moment. Once through the canopy I tumbled and immediately separated from my seat. I felt the opening shock of the parachute and spent the next moments going through my IROK procedures. I looked for and found my B/Ns chute approximately 100 yards downwind. I remember seeing the moon, the beach and the city lights. Time compressed while in the cockpit. Once in my chute time returned to normal. Although I was in my chute for no more than 30 seconds I can still clearly recall the sights and sounds. Looking down I saw roofs, roads, cars and trees. I saw the high power lines, leading from the nearby sub-station. I saw people running and pointing up at me, yelling. I passed overhead the power lines, missed the roads and rooftops and went directly through a 50ft oak tree centered in an apartment complex on the corner of Artic and 24th street. The seat pan shielded me as I broke branches on my way through the tree. My decent stopped 6 inched above the ground dangling in front of parked car. We both were flying again within the week." John Hoyt, Ejectee #4279

15.01.2022 "I earned entry into the Martin-Baker Tie Club in July 1976 when our F4D had a flight control malfunction as we were taking off from RAF Lakenheath. We had not ...even cleared the end of the runway when I ejected the pilot and myself. It was a close call, but both of your seats in our fighter worked to perfection. Thank you! Although I used the handles above my head, I was able to retrieve the other lower handle, as well as the MacDonald Douglass aircraft placard, from the wreckage collected by the safety investigation team. Photo enclosed." Mike Krenek, Ejectee #2696

15.01.2022 Its a little bit late but I would like to say thank you for the two let-downs that I had with your marvelous seat. My first was in the spring of 1967 when I w...as involved in a mid-air at Eglin AFB Florida flying an F-4D. I was at about 500 feet and almost inverted when I pulled the handle. The second was from a more reasonable altitude but much less friendly territory, being just sixty or seventy miles SW of Hanoi, but I knew that I was going to at least get out of the airplane without any problems. Thank you and everyone at Martin-Baker very much. Capt. Stephen Gulbrandson, Ejectee #1140 http://martin-baker.com/ejection-tie-club/

14.01.2022 A US Navy T-45C Goshawk (VT-22 "Golden Eagles") crashed yesterday during a training flight near Orange Grove, Texas. Both pilots ejected successfully.

13.01.2022 An ATAC Mirage F1B aircraft crash landed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. Both crew members survived the incident, one ejecting successfully and the other staying with the aircraft.

13.01.2022 A Royal Navy Hawk aircraft from 736 Naval Air Squadron crashed this morning during a flight from RNAS Culdrose. Both pilots ejected successfully. This is the first Royal Navy ejection in 18 years with the last being Martin-Baker's 7000th ejection back in 2003.

13.01.2022 A Royal Saudi Air Force twin seat Tornado aircraft crashed last week, both aircrew ejected successfully. We have also identified and confirmed an IAR93 ejection from 1998 that was previously missing from our records.

12.01.2022 Press Release 20th April 2020: http://martin-baker.com/2020/04/20/press-release-20-04-2020/

12.01.2022 A very Merry Christmas to one and all from Martin-Baker. We've got you covered Santa.

11.01.2022 On 21 Nov, 1983, I was involved in a mid-air collision with another F4E while stationed at George AFB, CA. We collided at approximately 1500 AGL. My Phantom w...as cut into two pieces and exploded. My seat worked flawlessly, and I owe my life to your product. Believe me when I say I am a firm supporter of your ejection seats. Thanks for being there when I needed you most! Bill Thaler, Ejectee #5850

10.01.2022 A United States Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet crashed yesterday during training off the Theodore D Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Both crew ejected successfully into the Philippine Sea and were picked up by SAR helicopter shortly after.

09.01.2022 There was an incident during a training flight with a Brazilian Air Force Super Tucano 4 weeks ago. The rear seat ejected successfully, the pilot remained with the aircraft and was able to land safely back at base.

09.01.2022 A TAI Hurkus aircraft crashed earlier today during a test flight incident. Both crew ejected successfully.

08.01.2022 A USAF F-35A Lightning II aircraft crashed late last night at Eglin AFB during a training sortie. The pilot ejected successfully and is in stable condition.

08.01.2022 A Pakistan Air Force JF-17 aircraft crashed earlier today during a routine training mission, the pilot ejected successfully. This marks the first JF-17 ejectio...n, an aircraft that’s fitted with Martin-Baker PK16LE ejection seats. There are 138 PK16LE seats in service to date, the first ejection seat to be fitted with the Martin-Baker electronic sequencer. It takes years of innovation and dedication to develop an ejection seat programme through the design, test and qualification phases through to final installation into the aircraft. While we would never celebrate the loss of any aircraft, the first successful ejection of any seat programme gives us an enormous sense of pride that the continuous product development being carried out at Martin-Baker saves lives, 7,632 to date.

08.01.2022 It was on this day 71 years ago that the first life was saved in a Martin-Baker ejection seat. John 'Jo' Lancaster was on a test flight in an Armstrong Whitwort...h prototype AW52 on 30/05/1949 when he was forced to eject using his Martin-Baker pre-Mk.1 seat, the flight that would make him Ejectee #1. 71 years on and that number now stands at 7,620 lives saved. Jo sadly passed away in August last year after an incredible life at 100 years old and was always a great ambassador for Martin-Baker. R.I.P. John 'Jo' Lancaster, Ejectee #1 (04/02/1919 - 10/08/2019).

07.01.2022 "On April 8th, 2013 I was flying an F/A-18F on a combat mission in support of coalition ground forces in Afghanistan. During the flight back to the USS EISENHOW...ER, the aircraft developed several compound emergencies that eventually resulted in the right engine being shutdown and the left engine flaming out. I ejected below 1,000 feet while the aircraft was oriented outside the safe ejection envelope. I have the brilliant and hard working employees of Martin-Baker to thank for ending up safely floating in the Indian Ocean. To everyone at Martin-Baker, from myself and my family, I offer my most heartfelt thank you for saving my life. Todd Cleveland, Ejectee #5947 http://martin-baker.com/ejection-tie-club/

07.01.2022 Another fantastic milestone hit as we complete the 600th ejection seat for the F-35 programme. http://martin-baker.com//martin-baker-completes-600th-f-3/

02.01.2022 We recently sent out a new Tie Club pack to Ejectee #1774, Scud Yates, after his son got in touch with us. Here's his response with the link at the bottom showi...ng Scud's full account of his ejection! My son Travis brought out the numerous gifts after dinner last weekend and I was stunned to silence as the club items were sequenced before me. I have not often pondered all your seat allowed in my life. At that moment, with family and grandkids around me, the seconds long ride provided me a chance to produce this gathering and most all of the DNA at the table. I was dazzled by the club documentation, tie, patch and tack. I was floored when he rolled out the watch and other items. I usually do not like such honorarium. I even hated getting medals for doing my job and there were about four dozen of them. This nights very personal treatment finally got me to tears. Your companys job of producing an item that seldom gets used, but has to be perfect for only about a second, means most of the time you dont get feedback. Here is my feedback; I sat in your seat for 12 years, or 2900 hours over 12 years. I had about 450 of those hours prior to needing a lift. The remaining 2450 hours were a bit more comfortable as I had a bunch more trust in your chair. I almost took another rides several times as battle damage was an event, often, in my particular job back then. I flew the Phantom both tours out of Thailand for 1200 hours during 420 missions. Most missions were as a Forward Air Controller, fast FAC. These missions had the most chances of attaining status as a Tie Club member. I did get a tie from the MB rep, I think, but since I just kept on flying, I never wore it. Scud Yates, Ejectee #1774 http://martin-baker.com/2019/10/24/scud-yates/

01.01.2022 We hit an exciting milestone at our Williamtown facility this week with the first two US-16E seats for RAAF F-35s being serviced. It was great to exercise this capability for the first time. This adds to the ongoing NACES parachute repacks for F/A-18F Super Hornet and E/A-18G Growler now being completed at the Martin-Baker Australia Williamtown workshop.
