18.01.2022 Week 12 and then exams. Through the wringer and then Summer. To all of you in Melbourne and overseas, that have smiled through the weight of working towards the greater good, giving up your short term for our long term and those that discovered their immutable strength in the face of EVERYTHING (LITERALLY, EVERYTHING) this year has thrown at us, here's to the Summer that is within us all. #mondaymotivation #summer2020 #wearembssa #mbs #covidsafe

13.01.2022 This semester was long, but at the same time, so short. We had a fair idea of the journey we'd be embarking on but absolutely none of us could have predicted it would be this amazing. Yes, there were some tough moments but we successfully weathered them and gave it all we possibly could. And then some more. At the end of it, all we can say is we had fun and grew individually and together as a team. Would we do it again? For sure. But now, it's time to hand over the reins to the next set of amazing people to create their magic. Good luck, goodbye and as always, stay safe. - Shaunak , Alankrita, Rhea, Nandini & Kavleen

13.01.2022 The best way out is always through, and we made it through 100 days of Lockdown! And we’ll make it through this pandemic too. #mondaymotivation ... #step2 #melbourne #wearembssa See more

11.01.2022 In this semester’s final instalment of Alumni of MBSSA, we explore the student journey of one Maria Cruz, a graduate student that held her ground and created a life in Australia on her own terms. Maria is someone that prioritized well and understood what differentiated her from the competition. Her seamless transition to the Bank of Australia in her current role can be majorly contributed to her experience with 180 degrees consulting. Maria spent her time developing holistica...lly working with clubs whilst creating long-lasting relationships with her teammates. These experiences defined the basis of her student journey - "The more exposure you get from your degree, and the more time you get to think about what that all means, and how it fits in ... is what we should be preparing for". Maria's sense of humour when reflecting on slight hiccups and adjustments she had to make such as getting up early in the morning when transitioning to the workplace was refreshing. She concluded out conversation with some helpful insights particularly aimed at international students that she received at a careers convention, "I would encourage international students to look out for opportunities where you can get local work experience, there are many organisations that’d be glad to have you on-board. Know what you want, know where you can be impactful, and find or create that space for yourself to thrive." We could not have said it better ourselves! Find the full interview on our website!

04.01.2022 For all of you that are a part of the MBS family, this is a perfect read of some of the key pointers of the consulting world. Students' Association of Management and Marketing (SAMM)'s insightful piece on Consulting 101 which was organised with the MBSSA recaps the event and highlights some secrets you may have missed. Definitely worth a read!

03.01.2022 In this week's instalment of Humans of MBSSA, we dive into the student life of Yau Sien Ong, a graduate student pursuing the Master of Applied Econometrics. As a taxation intern at KPMG, Yau benefitted from practical experience whilst studying a Bachelor of Commerce and used the internship as a pathway to a career in econometrics. Yau, being the proactive student that he is, involved himself in various club activities contributing to a well-rounded experience as an internatio...nal student. He was also a part of the MBSSA peer mentoring program where he formed new ties with his fellow MBS cohort. Speaking on the challenges he faced, adjusting to cultural differences between Melbourne and Malaysia stood out the most in reflection. But he successfully navigated them, in part with the help of his mentor and university resources such as Stop 1. As much as Yau misses classes on campus, he acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of teaching staff to replicate the learning experience he would have otherwise received. Yau concluded his conversation by articulating the value of the newsletters sent by the Faculty at MBS and the MBSSA team, stating "There is a whole lot of information in the newsletters that would be difficult to find elsewhere and having not done the same in my undergraduate degree, I can assure you that it is important to check them regularly". Our conversation with Yau was enlightening and informative, shedding light on the adversity he faced and the learning experiences he gained at the University of Melbourne.
