25.01.2022 To activate the quadratus lumborum do this. In NKT we would first release the opposite QL, etc.

23.01.2022 NKT student P Saradha Vivek helping her patient resolve gait issues. A 48 year old lady came in with pain in the left glute region. She complained of this par...ticular pain while getting out of a car. She has been doing active exercises with weights recently. She reported no obvious injury or fall, no red flags were identified during the examination. On assessment she had a painful and limited external rotation of left hip. NKT testing revealed inhibition of gluteus medius and a facilitated pectieus muscle. After releasing pectineus and activating gluteus medius made the external rotation of hip better. A week later she came in with no pain in the hip while getting out of the car. But she had an onset of pain in her right shoulder. She felt her gait has changed. On gait assessment, the right arm swing was less. NKT gait testing revealed her right arm left hip extension was underworking. Her right latissimus dorsi was overworking for her right QLs. Also, there was a scar on her right armpit area from an old cyst removal surgery. NKT testing revealed scar was facilitated for the gait pattern. Released the scar, and the gait pattern improved. This made a big change in her gait and arm swing. She reported no shoulder or hip pain after the session. Join us at NeuroKinetic Therapy Level 1 course in Mumbai on 13th-14th MARCH 2021. 21.01.2022 My client has been using her Peloton quite successfully and decided to try one of their core classes. Afterwards she felt pain in her right lower back, glute ma...x, and sacroiliac joint (SIJ). Since core classes include ab work I asked which exercises she did. Oblique work was part of that. NKT testing found the right QL, glute max, and SIJ overactive and the right internal oblique (IO) and left external oblique (EO) combo underactive. Released the QL then activated right IO/left EO combo, and did that for the glute max and SIJ. Now her back, etc felt better and abs stronger. New routines present new challenges. See more

11.01.2022 My client was doing a new workout routine with some novel upper body exercises and afterwards felt pain in her shoulder. A few hours later she couldn't abduct o...r flex her shoulder without pain. She pointed to her middle deltoid area and her triceps. NKT testing found her supraspinatus overworking and her middle deltoid underworking. When a smaller synergist becomes the prime mover good things don't happen. Released the supraspinatus and activated the mid delt. Her abduction went from 90 degrees to almost normal. Then we found the triceps overworking and the anterior deltoid underworking in a functional opposite relationship. Released the triceps and activated the ant delt. Her flexion went from 90 degrees to almost normal. See more

06.01.2022 Rectus femoris is a two joint (biarticular) muscle that crosses both the hip and knee joints. This muscle is technically part of ...the quadriceps group, but has the ability to create both hip flexion and knee extension due to its attachment points. The position shown in this video is referred to as the Thomas test and is often used by physical therapists to assess hip flexor and rectus femoris flexibility. But, you can also do it at home with a partner! The Thomas test position can also be great for stretching rectus femoris and the other hip flexors and can be quite helpful to people with low back pain and/or anterior hip and thigh tightness. In order to maximize the stretch, follow the cues listed below and complete 2 to 4 repetitions with 15 to 30 second holds. 1Hold the pelvis down in order to limit low back movement. 2Push the knee down toward the floor gently to create hip extension. 3Bend the knee slowly to create knee flexion until a moderate stretch is reported by your partner.
