17.01.2022 Another Friday, another well delivered education session. This mornings topic was the management and programming for Severs, Osgood Schlatters and Osteitis Pub...is. These are some of the more common developmental injuries experienced by many. Our Director Brett Robertson thoroughly explained how was can best manage and rehabilitate these injuries that can be mismanaged. If yourself or one of your children have any of the above then do not hesitate to get in contact with us!

17.01.2022 World Schools Cricket Challenge 2017 - tournament report. Incredibly proud of our Elite Cricket Academy Teams in the Open & Development competitions, both making the Final on Friday. Unfortunately the results didnt go our way with victory to Haileybury College (Aust) in the open division and a very accomplished WestLakes School (NZ) in the development.... I was impressed with our teamwork, resilience & personal application throughout a solid week of cricket matches. We had some outstanding individual performances: Charlie Parker 130, Dev Jhamb 99 , Jay Jhamb 88, Julian Pope 8/18 off 8 overs and captain of the development team Liam Collett not out in all 4 innings, twice getting 50+ runs. But most importantly every single player contributed to the overall success of each team, by building batting partnerships, executing their stock (best) ball and saving 5 runs in the field. A huge thanks to our team of high performance cricket coaches & mentors: Adam Hutton, Peter Di Venuto and James Bett. Haileybury College, Mentone Grammar and Dingley Cricket Club produced excellent facilities for the week too. Well done to all players & families for their continued support. Bryce

14.01.2022 How do you help take a team with countless injuries, limited speed and no AFL affiliated players to VFL Premiership glory? Heres how we did it with Port Melbou...rne Football Club in 2017... An overview of the PMFC 2017 Season Program: We set out with an aim to improve all aspects of athleticism across the squad from day one. This meant we needed to take baseline data in power, speed, change of direction, anaerobic and aerobic capacities to guide us in our programming for the pre-season. Once these baselines had been recorded the whole squad went through an introductory strength program at one of our facilities with our coaches. The education and development of these athletes with our performance coaches ensured all were on the same page when it came to their individual objectives in the pre-season. Pre-season training consisted of: - Pre-training protocols (injury prevention, movement preparation, soft tissue release) - Dynamic Warm-Up (running form and movement pattern specific) - Acceleration drills (first step-quickness, running form) - Upright Running drills (foot strike patterns, trail leg recovery) - Change of Direction (lateral movement, pattern, cutting) - Agility (reaction, partner reaction) - Plyometrics (vertical, horizontal, lateral) - Conditioning (short, medium, long) (Position specific, load specific, player specific) - Introducing this program to the squad immediately reaped benefits with soft tissue damage decreasing, speed and power outputs increasing and overall EFFICIENCY and ECONOMY of the athletes improving. - With the aid of the sports medicine team, the list of injured players at the start of the pre-season decreased rapidly and we saw more and more players out on the track every night. - Monitoring of training load, player wellness, periodisation and injury reports aided in ensuring players were consistently developing athletically at a speed which would ensure long term success and a fourth quarter capacity better than any other team. - No GPS measures or heart rate measures were used for the squad, rather the coaches eye and education to the players on what to expect in a pre-season and how to cope with the load provided the edge over the competition. In-Season: - Strength and power programs continued with players completing these at any of our facilities, at PMFC or in their own time. Emphasis moved to injury prevention, power production and effective load management. - All running form drills, pre-training protocols and agility drills remained constant throughout the season at the start of training, providing players with a stimulus for continual development and form maintenance. - Sessions across the week fluctuated in load, weeks across the season fluctuated in load based upon player fatigue, game length, upcoming schedule and coachs eye. - Conditioning continued during the season with one of our coaches offering up the term premiership running. This was a hard pill to swallow for some of our players but ultimately was pivotal in our success against the AFL clubs with greater resources. Keeping players fresh was a main concern but we could not have underestimated the importance that greater conditioning levels provided our players against their opposition. - This was evident with the number of fourth quarter blowouts that occurred as our players ran the legs of their opposition. - The injury list decreased at a rapid pace to give us near on a full squad to pick from at any time in the season. Apart from a few season ending injuries, the joint approach from Acceleration coaches and the Sport Med team provided amazing results to the injury list. The rest.... Well thats all part and parcel of the Acceleration program that all teams we work with experience. I cannot thank the Acceleration coaches who worked with the program enough... Brogan, Matt, Jarrod, Tom and Kelly. All provided valuable knowledge and expertise at various times during the year to ensure success of the program. To the PMFC Sports Medicine team, you guys made our job easier on a daily basis with your knowledge and openness to work alongside us in ensuring player wellness. Gary, Toby and all of the other amazing coaches and players at PMFC, it was an honour. Up The Borough! Brett Robertson Director

10.01.2022 More 20m sprint action

10.01.2022 If YOU run in your sport then YOU must take personal responsibility to understand your own running gait, have it professionally assessed and then develop it with their guidance. Move faster, for longer (repeat efforts) with less effort ... PLUS minimise injury & time out of your game. ... every single athlete should be saying Ill have me some of that!!... But most with think like an amateur and say just Ill get fit at training, lift some weights & go for a run Make no mistake - this is THE most critical aspect in running sports. Just Get It Done Right! Heres my connection & personal recommendation to the absolute best in the business. #KeepWorking #AlwaysMyBest Bryce
