25.01.2022 See that tiny dot below the chopper? That's a horse! This was an emergency rescue for Otis, a horse injured on a remote trail in Oregon, USA. He was sedated ...and lifted using a special sling designed for rescue operations. Thankfully, he landed safely and is expected to make a full recovery! : Dale (Otis' owner) via Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue

23.01.2022 It is with the deepest sadness that we advise that one of the all-time greats of Australian racing, Might And Power, has passed away at the age of 26. Late yest...erday afternoon he was diagnosed with colic and rushed to Werribee Equine Centre for emergency surgery, but was unable to be saved. CEO & Veterinary Director, Dr Andrew Clarke, said he and the team were completely heartbroken to lose this very special once-in-a-lifetime horse. I am incredibly sad to have to let you know that Might and Power was euthanised in the early hours of this morning, Dr Clarke said. Our hearts are with owner Nick Moraitis and Bobs many fans, and also to our wonderful staff who cared for him every day. Living Legends will never be the same without our treasured Might And Power. A special thank you to Werribee Equine Centre for their efforts to save his life, he said. Might And Power retired in 1999 as a rare winner of the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate treble, and was one of the longest standing and most popular residents at Living Legends. He will be forever missed.

16.01.2022 To my best mate Mach Alert NZ Who wouldve thought the shy, little, quiet black 2 year old that hid in the corner behind his friend Dickies Bromac in a freezi...ng cold paddock in Christchurch would have turned out to be our beautiful boy Mach. What an amazing 9 years we have had from the moment you arrived I knew you would never leave us and Mach you never disappointed us. You started with a bang running second in the Redcliffe Derby followed quickly by success in the Group 2 Premiers Cup then bringing our first ever Group 1 glory in the QLD Derby and you had only just begun. You went on to win and place in numerous races and took us to the Hunter Cup, Inter Dominion Heats and a start in the 2013 and 2015 Inter Dominion. We thought wow what a ride but you kept on going placing in the Goldburn Cup, the Len Smith Mile with Group 1 glory coming again in the Coca Cola Sprint and a start in the Miracle Mile. Back in your home state you have been a warrior week in and week out, through your back injuries and leg injuries and through your throat surgery you never let us down. You were always there in the finish, placing second on two occasions in the Be Good Johnny, taking out the Flashing Red and winning numerous open races. You are a true champion a warrior on the track and a gentleman in the stables and we will forever be grateful to have such a blessing as you. As we prepared for our usual Saturday night race last week, you looked at me and I at you and you told me it was time and then it was done. Your retirement has been well earned old boy its time to join you mates Avonnova, Our Hi Jinx and the boys in the paddock for a well earned rest and fun in the sun. As they say it takes a village and what a village we had, so big thank you to Mark McGarry for his constant vet care on a patient not always cooperative, Dan the Chiro, Jason our healing god, our stable team over the years Marie, Penny, Ash special thanks to Lana and Richo, and Birdy wherever your are, Wayne and Shane Graham who always looked after him, and the drivers who piloted our Boy, Luke McCarthy, Shane Graham, John McCarthy, Nathan Purdon, Adam Sanderson, Brittany Graham, Paulie D, Brendan Barnes, Mr Vinnie Langdon and a huge thank you to Machs last pilot who treated him amazing and looked after the old boy week in and week out with 51 drives for 9 wins and placed 13 times Ms Kellie Dawson. But most importantly the man who needs the most credit but takes none like many of the hard workers in our sport, my husband Ian Gurn for without you and your dedication to our team and this sport we would never have had such an amazing ride. Happy Retirement Mach #machymoo See more
