19.01.2022 CLUB CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Last Thursday night we were very pleased with our community patrons ability enjoy themselves AND comply with the new pandemic standards. Sadly it seems some elements elsewhere in the country did not heed the social distancing rules and effective tomorrow the all licensed drinking and dining venues including the community club must close until further notice.

And our own sports clubs and community associations also depend on the assocation to lease and operate the sports grounds. Please give some serious thought to nominating (or finding nominees) for the management committee and volunteering a few hours a week for maintaining our community grounds and facilties.

02.01.2022 READ THIS IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CLUB A decision will be made next Wednesday about the re-opening of the Community Club and it will be up to the community whether the club is likely to continue. Outgoing Chairperson Ben Tugwell said theres a lot to consider when running a licensed premises, especially with less volunteers than ever.... "Theres a great deal of work to do, and before we consider opening, we need more hands on deck that are able make a personal commitment to the community. Because of the shutdown we have to organise re-stocking the bar, cleaning and finding new volunteers to run the raffles and dinner nights". "As we lift restrictions it could go either way, either people realise the value in volunteering, or we wind up the longstanding tradition of a community club. Unlike a commercial business, the club can only work when theres a good bunch of volunteers to bind it together." The club is putting out a call out for people willing to help take on the reigns of responsibility running membership, events and maintenance and administration. To find out more and sign up, volunteers will be at the clubrooms (behind the hall/ via the oval road) this Wednesday from 7:00 to 7:30 PM.(June 3rd)

02.01.2022 Community Club Will Stay Open. The McLaren Flat Recreation Ground Association management committee held an urgent meeting last night to address the new bio-security measures for non-essential gatherings. The new measures deliberately allow gatherings of up to 100 patrons and it was clearly stated by the federal government that part of the intended plan is not to lock down the states, but to allow us to keep doing what we are doing in a way that is sustainable for at least t...he next six months. The social role of the community club may well need to play a pivotal part in alleviating isolation once people are comfortable with the expected social distancing and hygiene standards. For this reason, we will continue to provide this service to our community. New hygiene and social distancing practices will apply immediately. Signage and information will be posted within the club rooms. Regular Thursday night trading will continue 6-10pm until 26 April. The proposed change to Friday nights will commence on 3 May.
