24.01.2022 Some breaking news out of the NDIS this morning ... Transport! The Minister for the NDIS has announced that NDIS participants will now be able to use their core... funds to pay service providers for transport. The Ministers press release says "From 1 March 2020, NDIS participants will be able to flexibly use their plans core support funding to claim service provider costs associated with transporting participants to and from NDIS funded community-based activities. "Providers will be able to claim some of their vehicle running costs when offering transport to a participant in conjunction with the community activities identified in their NDIS plan. These costs which are in addition to the support workers time are factored at a per kilometre rate and can be claimed by providers as a separate item as part of the support they are delivering to participants" An updated price guide will be released in the next few weeks with line items and amounts. EDIT: The Ministers press release is now up on the NDIS website - https://www.ndis.gov.au//4318-delivering-ndis-plan-flexibi We know this doesnt have all the info everyone needs so we are trying to get more detail now. Stay tuned. And while we know this doesnt fix all the transport issues for everyone, it is great things things are moving and heading in the right direction ... 23.01.2022 Today we attended the Sunrise Way Resilience breakfast and were inspired by the stories of Ainslie (program graduate) and his fianc Kylie, and Trent Dalton, the author of the amazing book Boy Swallows Universe. There wasnt many dry eyes - recovery requires resilience and courage and today show cased that beautifully. The morning was topped off by a rendition of Tomorrow theres a Sunrise - a song written by Josh Arnold and program participants -resulting in more tears!! We look forward to show casing the beautiful work we do at Magenta in the future and celebrating the capacity building and life changing work we do every day!! Wendy also has the chance to talk about the NDIS support needs of some of the residents and how Magenta can help moving forward. She is pictured here with SW Graduate Aiden, and staff member, Ben.

20.01.2022 BREAKING RECORDS Tamworth Public School just broke our largest dads and kids school activity record with its first dads and kids afternoon. More than 650 p...eople attended this afternoons activity of paper planes and father-child fun, chewing through more than 350 pizzas while they were at it! With more than 900 students at Tamworth PS, were looking forward to many more HUGE nights of positive fathering moments, for the benefit of the kids.
