22.01.2022 Soft jaw leg hold traps are being trialled in Kakadu National Park for trapping cats. Cats pose a serious threat to native animals in Kakadu, but existing cat... baits are ineffective in the Top End partly due to the extreme humidity, which leads to rapid bait deterioration. Baits also pose a risk to non-target species such as quolls, dingoes and birds of prey. Parks Australia are working with Biosecurity Queensland on the trial, due to their expertise in the area.
