23.01.2022 On Friday 5th September Guy Barnett MP and Mark Shelton MP - State members for Lyons, were at the Meander Valley Enterprise Centre to announce funding for the Centre over the next two years. Work done by MVEC in the community is valued and the State Governement is anxious that it should continue.

22.01.2022 The Meander Valley BEC has received funding support from the State Government for the two years ended October 2016. This support together with Meander Valley Council seed funding will enable the Centre to continue its community involvement and small business support for the next two years.

21.01.2022 Guy Barnett hosted a community forum at his electoral office in Deloraine on Wednesday 6th May on the subject of 'Agriculture in the Meander Valley and across Tasmania' with guest speakers The Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP and Wayne Johnston, President of TFGA. The event was attended by nearly 60 people and provided a great insight into the way the government and TFGA see the future of agriculture - one of the biggest economic drivers in this region.

19.01.2022 The Great Western Tiers Tourism Association (GWTTA) will hold its AGM on Monday 21st September at the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre at 6.0pm. From 3.00 to 5.00pm on the same day - same venue - Tourism Northern Tasmania will hold a community Open House which will enable members of the public to meet TNT and their consultants to discuss the future of tourism in our region. Between 5 and 6.00pm there will be an industry workshop. Any one interested in attending this should contact [email protected] . The more who participate the better the likely outcomes for Meander Valley - see you there! Following the GWTTA AGM there will be food and drinks and the opportunity to network with TNT representatives and the GWTTA board.

18.01.2022 Great Western Tiers Tourism Association board held a working session with Rick Marton of Effective Naturally - to commence their branding and communication strategy yesterday and this was followed by a member networking night at the Deloraine Deli attended by 25 people. Chris Griffin of Tourism Northern Tasmania gave an outline of both the past peak tourism season from a Northern Tasmania point of view and an insight into their forward planning for the region.



16.01.2022 MV Business Association A.G.M will be held at the Meander Valley Enterprise Centre Board Room on Monday 7th September at 5.30 pm. Following the formalities a representative of Tiers Technology will explain thier organisation and services on offer followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to network. 15.01.2022 The M.V. BEC office will close at midday on 24th December and remain closed till Monday 12th January 2015. M.V. BEC wishes everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year!

13.01.2022 At its meeting last week the Meander Valley Council approved $30,000 funding for the Enterprise Centre over the next twelve months. MVBEC will thus be in a position to continue its free and confidential advisory service for small business helped also by a state government grant. If you are running a small business or considering doing so contact the Enterprise Centre for free help and advice.

13.01.2022 Today was the last workshop for the Deloraine Digital Hub. The most loyal supporters over the last two years have been from the Deloraine Day Care Centre. Dinke Bramich and Terry Hunnam were photographed in the Enterprise Centre Conference Room this morning.

09.01.2022 On Wednesday evening (21st October) Guy Barnett's electoral office and the Great Western Tiers Tourism Association jointly hosted a community Forum of about 50 paticipants on "Tourism in the Meander Valley" with guest speaker The Honourable Will Hodgman MP - Premier of Tasmania, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality & Events, Minister for Sports and Recreation and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. Both Guy Barnett and Richard Millen (Chair of GWTTA) welcomed the Premier. A number of comments and questions were asked, most important being about the state of local wilderness walking tracks and future plans for upgrading and expanding these. Mayor Craig Perkins wrapped up the evening with a vote of thanks.

07.01.2022 GWTTA Board held its second session with Rick Marton to progress its brand strategy yesterday for the Great Western Tiers tourism area. Workshops will be planned to bring members up to date.

03.01.2022 The Economic Renewal Action Group (ERAG) met last night to discuss its project status and is about to undertake a strategic revue of its future direction.

01.01.2022 On the 26th March the Meander valley BEC jointly sponsored a Farmer's Network Dinner at the Bush Inn in Deloraine with Crowe Horwath and TP Jones & Co. The theme of the night was "Sowing the seeds of future success - a technology overview for agribusinesses". Around 50 people attended and without exception gave great and positive feedback. Some who attended are shown in the pictures above.
