05.01.2022 The Living & Learning Inc - Skills & Wellbeing Centres in Pakenham held a wonderful event today for White Ribbon Day to raise awareness for the heart breaking amount of physical and sexual assault towards women. A staggering 1 in 5 Australian women will experience domestic violence during their lifetimes. Various community groups collaborated to stand against such awful acts of violence and gender inequality including members of the Australian Filipino Community Services and the mens shed. White balloons were released for the victims of domestic violence. The local art group participated in "The Clothesline Project," displaying a number of tshirts the artists created in response to domestic violence. It was wonderful to see a community that stands up to these unthinkable yet highly prevalent acts. Photos by Annika and Robert.
