21.01.2022 New weekly class series starts next week. Habits of Happy People with Gen Kelsang Ani. Happiness is something that each of us has the potential to experience, but often our habitual ways of thinking take us in the opposite direction. In this engaging series of classes, we will learn critical lessons about some of the habits of happy people that, if we apply them, will enrich our experience of life. We will explore several meditations and ways of thinking that uplift the mind.... If we then carry these perspectives into our day, we can maintain a light, joyful attitude whatever life throws our way. We are now open for in-person classes. Places are limited so please book in advance. We don’t accept walk-ins for our weekly classes. We offer three different days/times for you to attend the classes. Classes are also available to watch at home. Each video class will be available to view for one week after it is published. 17.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL TEMPLES DAY Today, the first Saturday in November, is International Temples Day, on which we celebrate the work of the International Temples Proje...ct. When Venerable Geshe-la opened the first Temple for World Peace at Manjushri Centre in 1997, he expressed the wish to develop a modern Buddhist Temple in every major city of the world. To accomplish this and many other purposes, he founded the International Temples Project (ITP). The scope and activities of the ITP are constantly evolving in response to the needs of the ever-changing demands of busy lives. It presently achieves its aim through developing and building traditional and non-traditional temples, meditation and retreat centres, and through the activities of World Peace Cafés and Tharpa Publications. Today we celebrate in particular the work of the ITP in making the precious books of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche available throughout the world. All profits generated through the activities of the International Temples Project are dedicated to public benefit through the continual development of this fund. Make a contribution to the ITP: https://kadampa.org/donations/en/

16.01.2022 Karen, one of the volunteers makes offerings on our shrine once a week. If you have been to the city temple and wondered why there are bowls of water on our shrine here is the answer: In front of all the shrines are offerings that are made daily to the holy beings. We can offer anything we find beautiful or welcoming. Traditionally we offer seven substances based on offerings made to special guests: water for drinking, water for bathing, flowers, incense, light, perfume and food. On most days these are represented by bowls of pure water, but on special prayer days the actual substances are set out.

05.01.2022 We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, yet very few of us have really come to terms with this fact. In our modern society, death and dying are often shrouded in grief, confusion, and unhappiness, rather than being accepted as a normal part of life. Buddha gave extensive teachings on the death process, and on how to use an awareness of our death to live a full and meaningful life. By developing a deeper understanding of ...the death process, we can approach our own and others’ deaths with a different perspective. Using Buddhist wisdom, discover how to protect yourself and help others at the most defining moment of life. In this course you will learn what happens when we die according to Buddhist understanding; and see how increasing our awareness of the process of death can help us come to terms with our own and others’ mortality. Join us for this half-day course in-person (https://www.trybooking.com/BMFIG) or online (https://www.trybooking.com/BMFIM) - Sunday 8th November. Please book. See more
