25.01.2022 Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. Albert Einstein

25.01.2022 We often feel as though we are under constant pressure to conform to society and waste precious time worrying about what others think of us. My daughter came across the following quote which says it all....

22.01.2022 Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Life is about living and learning. Regret and anger will only weigh you down. Try to practice acceptance and forgiveness so that you are free to move forward.

22.01.2022 Outdoor meditation - Lately the weather has been just perfect to sit outside for a change. Energise your senses by tuning in to the surrounding sounds, smell the fragrances in the air and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.

22.01.2022 I found the following quote both relevant and amusing...

21.01.2022 For those who are interested, despite the public holiday tomorrow, both the morning and evening Yoga classes will run as per usual.

20.01.2022 People often tell me that they enjoy meditating but can't seem to find enough time in their day to practice regularly. Breath meditation is one of the most widely practiced meditation techniques and easy to apply. Your breath is with you wherever you go ...so no excuses!

19.01.2022 Problems are like washing machines. They twist us, turn us and knock us around.... but in the end we come out cleaner, brighter and better than before!

18.01.2022 Just a reminder that although it is a public holiday, I am still running the yoga class tonight. Hope to see you there!

17.01.2022 It's great to be back at work, doing what I love. I have been asked by so many "how do you manage to move on from such a tragic event and remain positive?" .......

17.01.2022 There is no need to feel guilt for the choices you make...

16.01.2022 Some more scientific facts on the benefits of meditation...... Regular practice improves your focus, attention, and ability to work under stress. A study led by Katherine MacLean of the University of California found that during and after meditation training, subjects were more skilled at keeping focus, especially on repetitive and boring tasks. Another study demonstrated that even with only 20 minutes a day of practice, students were able to improve their performance on tests of cognitive skill, in some cases doing 10 times better than the group that did not meditate. They also performed better on information-processing tasks that were designed to induce deadline stress.

14.01.2022 If you are interested in attending the yoga class on Monday night, please refer to the website for details on change of venue.

14.01.2022 We have all heard that meditation is good for you though I am often asked how and why? Over the coming weeks, I will post some scientific discoveries on the benefits of meditation, starting with the one below: Meditation helps manage ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) In a study made with 50 adult ADHD patients, the group that was submitted to MBCT (Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy) demonstrated reduced hyperactivity, reduced impulsivity and increased act-w...ith-awareness skill, contributing to an overall improvement in inattention symptoms. 14.01.2022 I hope you have all had the opportunity to take some time out over Christmas/New Year. 14.01.2022 Strength and balance are just two of the many benefits gained from practicing yoga and meditation. Check this out!................

11.01.2022 Reminder: Tuesday morning classes at Preston Neighbourhood House do not run over the school holidays. Enjoy your break!

09.01.2022 Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. I am pleased to announce that I will be commencing work again on Monday 11th August. Looking forward to seeing all of you again.

08.01.2022 We often place high expectations on ourselves beyond reasonable limits, ultimately leading to some form of disappointment or suffering. Here's another great quote by Albert Einstein to help put things into perspective!... "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. "

05.01.2022 Hi all, I'm very excited to announce that I am now running my own Yoga classes - Hooray! Also, the next beginner Meditation courses will commence on 20th and the 23rd May. For more details, please refer to my website.

05.01.2022 How can meditation help with depression? Depression can affect all areas of life from sleeping to eating. It can also affect your work performance and relationships. In fact, it can feel like its infiltrating your entire life.In a comprehensive meta-analysis of 39 scientific studies, researchers from Boston University examined the effectiveness of meditation in alleviating anxiety and depression. They found that meditation had a significant effect for those clinically diagnosed, as well as those with everyday anxiety and mood problems. The study concluded that meditation decreases ruminative thinking and dysfunctional beliefs. Sources: ScienceDaily, Link Springer, Jama Network

02.01.2022 Please refer to the website for upcoming meditation courses and yoga classes.

02.01.2022 Yes it has finally come to that time of year again where we look back and ask - where has all that time gone? We then reset goals for the new year and hope that everything works out just as we plan. Try not to become consumed by future expectations and allow yourself to enjoy the little wonders that take place each day. Something to remember.....

02.01.2022 Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break! I personally noticed that most people were too busy thinking about everything else instead of enjoying the present moment. We often get caught up living in the past, going over what could have/should have been or living in the future, chasing desires. We can either continue to waste our lives doing this or chose to embrace the here and now. By living in the present moment, we alleviate all of the unnecessary stress that comes with attachment to the past or future.
