13.01.2022 Tree of Life... In the contrast of darkness in the background and white light all around us is a spectrum of colours within us. Without darkness there can be no light. Without colour there would only be black or white. Tree of life represents birth... we begin as a seed and grow the roots to stand, walk, talk and grow. From the roots, the trunk for stability, strength, knowledge, security and innate wisdom from the soil. ... As the trunk grows, branches begin to form to evolve the tree from seed to BE. Branches are grown to catch the breeze, the rain the sun from every angle, creating shade, resting place and homes. Each branch an extension of the trunk exploring the world around it, spreading out in all directions to make the most of its experience of life. Branches may grow to the north to harness the morning sun, to the east to harness the evening breeze, to the south to catch the rain, to the west to greet the moon. Branches grow straight up to look around. Branches grow toward the earth to provide food. Branches become the trees balance, when one branch breaks another is formed. 10.01.2022 Take a deep breath in. Now let it out. You may notice a difference in how you feel already. Your breath is a powerful tool to ease stress and make you feel less anxious. Some simple breathing exercises can make a big difference if you make them part of your regular routine. Before you get started, keep these tips in mind: - Choose a place to do your breathing exercise. It could be in your bed, on your living room floor, or in a comfortable chair. - Don't force it. This can ma...ke you feel more stressed. - Try to do it at the same time once or twice a day. - Wear comfortable clothes. Many breathing exercises take only a few minutes. When you have more time, you can do them for 10 minutes or more to get even greater benefits. Deep Breathing... Most people take short, shallow breaths into their chest. It can make you feel anxious and zap your energy. With this technique, you'll learn how to take bigger breaths, all the way into your belly. 1. Get comfortable. You can lie on your back in bed or on the floor with a pillow under your head and knees. Or you can sit in a chair with your shoulders, head, and neck supported against the back of the chair. 2. Breathe in through your nose. Let your belly fill with air. 3. Breathe out through your nose. 4. Place one hand on your belly. Place the other hand on your chest. 5. As you breathe in, feel your belly rise. As you breathe out, feel your belly lower. The hand on your belly should move more than the one that's on your chest. 6. Take three more full, deep breaths. Breathe fully into your belly as it rises and falls with your breath. Progressive Muscle Relaxation... In this technique, you breathe in as you tense a muscle group and breathe out as you release it. Progressive muscle relaxation helps you relax physically and mentally. 1. Lie comfortably on the floor. 2. Take a few deep breaths to relax. 3. Breathe in. Tense the muscles of your feet. 4. Breathe out. Release the tension in your feet. 5. Breathe in. Tense your calf muscles. 6. Breathe out. Release the tension in your calves. 7. Work your way up your body. Tense each muscle group. This includes your legs, belly, chest, fingers, arms, shoulders, neck, and face. 08.01.2022 For some of you that might've felt nice, for others that might've felt awkwardly long and for most of you, you probably noticed alot of thoughts, and that's actually part of the practice. So as we continue to practice, we become really conscious of what takes us away from inner peace and happiness. Because when we meditate, we try to be present and then we notice all of the thoughts and emotions and our top 10 tunes that really like to get in the way of that. It's as though ...the waves of the mind start to settle enough, to see clearly what's going on underwater. Rather than our normal life, where we're too distracted to notice, we ignor it or we get really caught up in it. We learn how to notice it, to gain insight from it and to let it pass. And that starts to create space for us to choose our response from a wiser place. I remember one summer I was getting into my car and it was extremely hot and I noticed in me, all this irritation, inner complaining. And because of my practice, I could be aware of it without being totally caught up in it, and it gave me the space to remember that... just a few months ago, I had paid for this exact same experience at the sauna. And so that changed my whole perspective because suddenly I realised that it wasn't actually the heat itself, that was causing my suffering, but it was my resistance to the heat.
