20.01.2022 We are very sad to say that Meerlieu Primary School will not be open in 2015 but we want people to know that the school and broader Meerlieu Community will be continuing to work towards attracting families so that the school can reopen in 2016. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us to promote the school and to raise its profile through the media. Thank you to the families who came to visit and to consider what we could offer and thank you to those who committed to ...coming to Meerlieu should we have reached the magic number. Thank you to the DEECD representatives who have provided us with information and allowed us as much time as possible to reach our decision. Thank you also to the many, many people who wished us luck and were with us in spirit over the past months. We are now focusing on preparing our students for their 2015 schools and ensuring they leave Meerlieu Primary School with as many skills and values as possible and with a swag of memories that will last them forever. 20.01.2022 Look at Phase One of our Christmas Mailbox entry. Thanks to Morty and the students for getting it ready. Come by at night to see it light up. More photos to come as it is completed. Thanks to Grace for taking the photos.

20.01.2022 Thanks for the photo Leah. He is a pint sized Santa.

18.01.2022 More cricket news: It is so great to see some our Meerlieu students in the Meerlieu Cricket club. Thanks to the club for the support throughout the year with the After School Sport Program and thanks to Simmo for his help during this term. Not sure what Kade's doing in this photo but it looks like fun. He and Grace were ready for the match. Some PBs achieved with first wicket for Kade (bowled stumps) and first wicket for Grace (bowled and caught).

11.01.2022 More Christmas views from our school family: Fourteen for the Frew Festivities. Looks like fun.

09.01.2022 Who would have thought a parachute could be so much fun?!

07.01.2022 Last week we were one of only ten schools to be part of the 'Love our Lakes' Project. The Gippsland Plains Conservation Management Network was recently awarded funding from the Gippsland Lakes Ministerial Advisory Committee to undertake the Love our Lakes Make a Song project. This project allowed singer song writer Barry Peters to work with students in each of the schools to write and perform a song relating to the school's specific environment. In most of the other schools Barry worked with one class but in ours all of our students were able to participate. Students helped write lyrics, added loops and sound effects and performed for Harry, Lucy and Leah in the afternoon.

06.01.2022 Happy Birthday for 1st December Ollie. Thanks for sharing your delicious cake with us. We hope you had a great day.

06.01.2022 We are hoping that people will share this post so that as many former students, teachers and families as possible will hear of it. On Wednesday 17 December the Meerlieu Primary School Council will host a Picnic BBQ dinner prior to the school concert and Christmas tree. Meat will be provided. If people would be kind enough to bring either a salad or a dessert to share for dinner we will make a gourmet event of it. ... BYO chairs, cutlery, plates, cups and drinks. To begin at 5.30 with the Concert to begin at 7pm. Santa is set to arrive around 8. Supper will follow Santa's visit. We would like all former students, families, councillors, teachers, principals etc to bring along a tree decoration with your name (or family name) and the years you were directly involved with the school written permanently somewhere on the decoration. You can put your decoration on the tree and we hope to see the tree become beautifully decorated with the representations. If you can't make it on the night send us your tree decoration and we'll put it on for you. We are also preparing a special commemorative tea towel. A photo of a sample is with this post. If you are interested in contributing a drawing of you or your family please let us know and we will organise for the special paper to be sent to you. The drawings would need to be back no later than the Picnic/Concert evening (17 December). The tea towel would be ready early in the new year and it is anticipated that it would cost around $10 per tea towel. Please contact the school as soon as possible if you would like to participate - preferably by Wednesday 10 December. A flier will be sent out to local mailboxes with this info as well as some details about Santa's visit. If you are able to come to the Picnic BBQ (BYO chairs, plates, drinks etc) could you please contact the school on 5157 8256 no later than Monday 15 December. We hope you can come and join us as Meerlieu School moves in a new direction.

06.01.2022 Thank you to the schools in the Mitchell River Cluster (Lindenow South, Clifton Creek, Nicholson, Bairnsdale Christian Community School and Eagle Point) for the lovely flowers that arrived for our school.

06.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who has shared the information about the school and community get together on Wednesday 17 December. We are hoping that the same will happen with this one. We have worked out an easier process for anyone wishing to be part of the tea-towel project. 1. Fold an A4 piece of WHITE paper into eighths and use one of the eighths to draw your picture. 2. Use a FINE point black Sharpie permanent marker to draw your design. ... 3. Put your drawing in a zip lock bag, or something similar to make sure it doesn't get wet, and post it to school (1462 Lindenow Meerlieu Rd Meerlieu Vic 3862) along with your name and contact details. We need all the pictures back by Wednesday 17 December. 4. We will have some paper and the special pens available on the night of the Picnic BBQ so that people may complete one on the night as well. You can draw yourself, your family, or another design. You may like to put the years you were involved with Meerlieu School. Don't forget you need to BYO chairs, plates, crockery, glasses and drinks on the for the picnic BBQ. The school will provide the meat and we are asking everyone to bring a salad or a dessert to share. The Picnic BBQ will begin at 5.30 and will be followed at 7.00pm by the school concert and awards night. Santa will arrive around 8 to distribute gifts. Gifts can be up the value of $10 and may be left at the school for Santa to collect before the concert. We would like all former students, teachers, principals, families and anyone who has played a part in making Meerlieu School a great place for its current era to bring along a permanently named Christmas decoration for the tree. You can make it or buy it - it's up to you. This collection can be used by the community and, hopefully, the school in Christmases to come. We are going to be conducting a raffle on the night and the proceeds of the this raffle will go to pay to have the End of Year Concert and Awards night professionally recorded. Please bring some loose change to buy some tickets or you can contact the school or one of the current families to purchase before hand. Lots of goodies to be won. Thanks to James Blandford for organising the videographer. Time is passing so quickly. Not long until the 17th and we hope to see many of you on the night and that some of you may even be happy to talk about what Meerlieu School has meant to you. For catering purposes please give us a call to let us know if you will be coming along. 5157 8256 Please share this post. Thank you.

05.01.2022 On Monday we had a special day we called Magnificent Monday. It was a day to celebrate all the hard work our students put into their learning. We have these days sometimes to keep in mind that learning isn't only about academic gains but that it's about learning to be inclusive, to be caring, to share and to challenge yourself to try new things. And sometimes it's important just to have some fun together!

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas Everyone. Have a look at what some of our crew has been up to today.
