16.01.2022 The club would like to Congratulate Rohan Giblett on his A grade debut today. He started his cricket at Meerlieu in U13s under the watchful eye of Gerard Deery in our first year when we teamed up with Bairnsdale 754 and became Meerlieu/754. This was the start of a great partnership which has seen our juniors flourish the last 10 years. ... Good luck today and earn your spot for the rest of the season CARN TUSSOCKS

15.01.2022 Well it has been confirmed from the BCA that the season will commence on Oct 17 for all senior grades with U13s starting on Oct 9 and U16s Oct 10. This is very exciting to have a starting date however cricket as we know it will be very different this season. Some things to expect due to cover-19 *everyone who comes to the cricket club MUST sign in... *only training in groups of 10 with a maximum of 30. These groups must be separated & be spaced out, away from other groups. *The hall and pavilion are not to be entered except for the use of the toilets as per state regulations around public buildings *no sharing of playing gear between one another A more comprehensive COVID-19 RETURN TO TRAIN & PLAY GUIDELINE is expected to come out from Cricket Victoria very shortly and we will post online when that comes available So this Sunday we are going to start training at 10am at the Meerlieu nets BYO ball, cricket gear and mozzie repellant Hopefully we see a few familiar and new faces for a very light session CARN TUSSOCKS

12.01.2022 Well done Vice Pres Scott Ashley for talking on ABC Gippsland this morning about our famous arvo teas. Unfortunately though thr club had to find out about potential COVID-19 impacts from the radio instead of Cricket Victoria who haven’t informed us on anything yet. However we are all systems go to start as normal after September 13 unless told otherwise CARN TUSSOCKS

12.01.2022 A good read from the Gippsland Times. What’s your favourite thing about playing cricket ?

10.01.2022 Well this is it ! The final training for the season is tonight! Although the club wasn’t very successful on the park this year (A grade wooden spooners and C grade won 1 game) it was really good to see some young blood getting a go in the higher grades, namely Lilly Strong and Jack McConachy.... Our junior sides ended up being the most successful for the season with the U13 sides ‘Meerlieu’ winning 7 and ‘Tussocks/754’ 2 wins followed by the U16s who took home 4 wins and a tie! So thank you to all those players who have walked out on the park representing the tussocks this year. Without you we wouldn’t have a club and for us to continue fielding teams we need you to all stick around for season 2021/22 and beyond. Tonight’s dinner is pretty obvious from the picture! It’s PIZZA night $10 all you can eat or until it’s all gone! As with every week the club invites locals and supporters to come share in our Thursday night dinners and have a good socialise. Also make sure you have in the calendar presentation night Friday 12th March at the Meerlieu Hall starting at 6pm. Seniors and U16 bring a casserole and U13s bring a desert. CARN TUSSOCKS!

09.01.2022 It’s all happening at the MCG with the Under 16 Tussocks scoring a solid 95.

02.01.2022 Following on from yesterdays post This week we lost a friend, past player, 2xU16 premiership player and all round top bloke Lachie Heywood. 'Big Red' as he was more commonly known around the club blossomed from a shy kid in juniors into someone who could make friends where ever he went. ... It was to hard finding one photo that summed him up best so here are a few photos from his years at Meerlieu. Our heartfelt condolences go out to everyone in the Heywood family and to everyone who had an association with him. He will be sorely missed Was and always will be a Tussock
