03.02.2022 Families and friends are most welcome to visit their loved ones at Melaleuca on Christmas Day but we do ask that you arrive at the following times: 10:30 am and/or 2:30 pm To enter our facility you MUST:... * provide proof of being fully vaccinated OR * provide proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours of visit * wear a surgical mask (fabric masks are not acceptable) * hand sanitise * check in using QR code and complete our sign-in sheet These are the current Dept of Health current requirements and unfortunately you will not be permitted to enter our facility if you cannot meet all the requirements. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our residents safe. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas stay safe

24.01.2022 Please be aware - as per Public Health orders, visitors to our Melaleuca Home require a surgical face mask to be worn at all times, and proof of full vaccination status (ie. double vaccination or more). At present our front doors have been required to be locked to the public. Please ring the doorbell to the right of the entrance to gain access. Have your mask and proof of vaccination ready. Thanks so much for helping us stay safe.

24.01.2022 National Volunteer Week~ Today we said thanks to our much valued volunteers for the wonderful contribution they make to our Home. We are so lucky to have such kind, caring, special individuals who are so committed to improving the lives of our residents. We are grateful for their energy, enthusiasm and the dedication they bring to their role as volunteer. It’s through the positive efforts of people like you that we can create a caring, happy environment. THANK YOU



23.01.2022 Our Raffle Winners for 2020 The raffle was drawn yesterday at our Resident Christmas Party by residents. First prize went to no other than our Lyndon - congratulations! Other winners were: 2nd Prize - S. Davies 3rd Prize - L. Hardwicke 4th Prize - M. Webb... 5th Prize - R. Murphy 6th Prize- T. Cooper Congratulations to all our winners! We would also like to thank everyone who supported our raffle, for donating prizes, purchasing and selling tickets. A special thanks to Anne Buxton and ‘A Cut Above the Rest’ butchery in East Devonport for their generous donations. All support is greatly appreciated and all raised funds are spent on special activities for our residents. See more

22.01.2022 Wishing all our dad’s a happy Father’s Day for Sunday. We celebrated early with a lovely lunch at the Argosy. We also had some fun today with a staff op shop dress up day. Residents enjoyed laughing at our staff’s expense, all worth it for the smiles

22.01.2022 Yesterday was a truly sad day as we said farewell for now to Susan, who has been working with us providing onsite hairdressing talent for over 30 yrs. Susan has definitely left her mark on our gorgeous home and we are very hopeful shell be back to visit Farewell for now, but definitely not forever.

21.01.2022 Today some of the ladies enjoyed the morning cooking session which resulted in perfect Rock Cakes. These ladies havent lost their touch.

21.01.2022 Rainy day movement to music with Mel this morning. Our beautiful residents thought the parachute was so much fun, all while reminiscing to some favourite 50’s songs to get our bodies moving.

21.01.2022 Animals are such compassionate, therapeutic beings, and were lucky to be able to bring our animals to work at Melaleuca . Weve had dogs, baby ducks and even lizards . Today was Summers turn - Summer is an English Bulldog, and loves a pat, treat or soulful stare as much as our residents loved giving them. (P.S I went to dog spa for this occasion, but please dont laugh at my pink bow - Mum felt she needed it to be obvious Summer is a dainty girly girl today ).

20.01.2022 Today we say thank you and goodbye to our Mel who is leaving Melaleuca Home today. We wish Mel all the very best and we know that this is not farewell but a see you soon. Thanks for all you have contributed; we miss you already.

20.01.2022 Christmas time is cherished family time Family time is Sacred time So here at Melaleuca Home for thr Aged we celebrated our Christmas Party Yesterday and even had a visit from Santa.

20.01.2022 Today was a special day - we had the great pleasure of hosting a birthday party for our much loved resident Mrs Bovill who was celebrating 100 years. As with all good parties, residents enjoyed a lovely spread of afternoon tea and drinks

19.01.2022 When we think about the ideal sunny winters morning, we think sipping coffee with friends and strolling through parklands could be the ideal recipe. So grateful to have our own Forget Me Not Cafe and gorgeous parklands right next door.

18.01.2022 We continue to be so blessed with community support and appreciation - gorgeous flowers from Governor of Tasmania, Kate Warner (shown off by our CEO, Simone, and resident, Betty); and amazing quilts donated by the Friendly Friday Quilting Group (some of us wanted to take these home ). 18.01.2022 Our afternoon activity "Ways with Wool" kept our ladies in focus. From beginners to advanced we covered it all today. Even a couple of staff enjoyed learning the basics.

16.01.2022 Today is Aged Care Employee Day. Melaleuca Home is so very grateful for the wonderful caring and dedicated staff that we have. We say thanks to our staff for today and everyday. We are proud of our Melaleuca team.

16.01.2022 Today we where lucky enough to have Chad Morgan preform here at Melaleuca. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert and the accompanying afternoon tea. It was great to also welcome some of our resident’s family and friends who could also attend this wonderful event.

And today she celebrates a super important birthday - 80 years young! Here she is - being gifted a dozen red roses by her equally gorgeous granddaughter, Courtney. Happy 80th Birthday, Ruby - best wishes from all of us at Melaleuca.

04.01.2022 This star turned 93 today - such a gentleman . So - today was about cake and coffee, family and friends. Of course, family and friends were sadly limited (public health visitation requirements still in place at all aged care facilities) BUT we definitely tried to make up for that with as much cake as he liked . Happy Birthday, Rex. You are a joy.

04.01.2022 Its a long weekend in Tasmania this weekend, and this means our Mon-Fri activity team are not onsite until Tuesday. Lucky we have a Diversional Therapist who thinks ahead and designs an activity book especially for the weekend. Thanks so much, Danza .

03.01.2022 Today the Leisure and Lifestyle staff assisted residents with the Message in a Bottle project that’s currently been held through the Devonport Regional Gallery. It was great to hear some of their favourites places and memories of the North West coast and also to be part of such great community projects.

Gorgeous Muriel was a lucky recipient of a random act of kindness today - here she is pictured with Bianca from the Devonport RSL. 01.01.2022 Today we held a beautiful Remembrance Day service which was lead by our very own war veteran Lyndon who served in the Australian Navy in the Korean and Vietnam War. Every year on the 11th we pause to remember the sacrifice of those men and women who have died or suffered in wars and conflict to defend our country.

01.01.2022 Thank you to the anonymous person who nominated Melaleuca Home for the Aged Care Award 2020 as part of the Tasmanian Community Achievement Award. Lets hope we make it to the finalist stage.
