22.01.2022 Important message from Melanoma Patients Australia’s CEO Victoria Beedle: Good news for melanoma patients as a new targeted combination therapy is listed on the... PBS. The new targeted combination treatment BRAFTOVI (encorafenib) plus MEKTOVI (binimetinib), will be available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) from today April 1 2020. This is welcome news for Australians who are living with inoperable Stage III or IV melanoma with a BRAF V600 mutation, and for the healthcare professionals who treat them. The combination treatment will be available at the cost of a standard prescription for each medicine. The news was also welcomed by Professor Grant McArthur, Executive Director, Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Member of MPA’s Medical Advisory Board: Now, more than ever before, we need to make the best decisions for our melanoma patients. With the current coronavirus epidemic in Australia threatening to overwhelm the healthcare system, access to cancer treatments that are taken by mouth (oral therapies) is especially useful. The use of oral therapies for cancer has been recognised as a particularly important option for patients by the Victorian COVID-19 Cancer Taskforce and cancer experts across the world. Thank you to all consumers that supported MPA in advocating for this treatment to be listed and made personal submissions, your voice matters. People with advanced melanoma should speak to their doctor for further information.

Fortunately all of the...se were found by her dermatologist at an early stage and were surgically removed. She urges everyone to be sun-safe and see a health professional if they notice any new spots or changes to existing ones. Thank you Kara! #gameonmole Councillor Kara Cook - Morningside Ward See more

19.01.2022 MELANOMA MARCH - CANCELLATION OF ALL EVENTS Statement from Melanoma Institute Australia CEO Matthew Browne Due to the escalating impact of COVID-19, and in the ...interests of the health and safety of all participants and attendees, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all remaining Melanoma March events nationally. This includes the seven events scheduled for this weekend - Melbourne, Bunbury, Bendigo, Coolangatta, Macarthur, Mackay, and Wagga Wagga. This decision has not been made lightly, however protecting the health of our dedicated community members and their families who run and attend these events, many of whom are cancer patients, is paramount. We will be offering full refunds for registrations, and will provide further information shortly regarding that process. We are planning to hold a virtual Melanoma March event on Sunday 29th March to enable our community across Australia to still come together as we have done for Melanoma March for the last 9 years. We will provide more detail regarding this in the coming weeks. My sincere apologies and thanks particularly to our volunteer committees who work tirelessly to put on their local Melanoma March events every year. Kind regards, Matthew Browne
