16.01.2022 I hope you are staying home looking after yourself and looking out for those close to you. I have something fun coming soon. With being working on some paper crafts like the tram (and a few others) in this picture so you can build your own at home. Theyll be available for download on our website free of charge. There will be a colored version like the one you can see here and also a blank version so you can color in your own. I know that this is a very difficult time for a... lot of people whether financially, mentally or in other ways. If you can, reach out to a friend of family member and just check in on them to see how they going. Maybe you can share a story or or do some coloring in over FaceTime together. It doesnt have to be anything big or special, but some people even the gesture of something like this can really help them. Personally, Ive been feeling down a lot lately, but Im lucky enough to be surrounded by people that love me, are supportive and understanding. I know that this isnt the situation for everyone though. 15.01.2022 Allie and Glue are great. Fantastic, even. But theres no one quite like Kevin. Did I rescue Allie and Glue from a life of neglect in the alley behind our apartment? Did I nurture and care for them through bugs, near death experiences, and expensive soil? Are they currently thriving and beating ALL expectations? Well, yes to that last one but NO TO THE REST. Kevin has been through so much. Hes not out of the woods yet (haha get it, trees? Plant pun * finger guns *) but hes doing so well and I am so proud of him. He is the ultimate plant son and he has made me a very proud plant dad. Follow my story for updates on Kevins health. You can download for free, a paper craft tram that you can build at home. All you need are scissors and glue. Spending so much time inside can be really difficult. Maybe you miss you tram to work, your morning coffee from the barista youve met 100+ times and still dont know her name or maybe you miss none of th...at. Youre be at home playing Animal Crossing and just want something to do while youre waiting for you friends to come on line, build and colour in your own tram. Maybe you need something to distract you just for a moment from your own little bubble, we get it. There are 11 different versions that you can download at the moment, with more on the way. 14.01.2022 This is the story of me having no idea what Im doing, learning, stumbling, falling face flat and still going because I loved it. On the 3rd of July 2015 is when I first posted a photo of Melbourne In A Box and the idea of the gift boxes. I had no idea how to do anything properly. The first few pictures show the very first box (yes I still have it, yes Im a hoarder). The packaging design was printed on a paper sticker from Officeworks that started to peel off in the first ...30 seconds. I should have been sued for the logo (if you can call it that), both for copyright and just how bad everything looked. The logo was the City of Melbourne logo inside the rhino from Yarra Trams Beware Rhino campaign. Over time, I learned to be a better designer and creative, more importantly I learned to ask other people for help. I redesigned the box, but had no money to even print samples of it. Again, I headed back to Officeworks and printed it out in scale and made a paper version by hand. Once I was happy with it, I started saving so I could get the real thing made. When the boxes arrived, I cried on the floor in my lounge room holding a handful of cardboard boxes. This is just one of many stories. There are so many other things that happened in the past 5 years and I want to share more of them. For now, Im just so excited by things that are coming soon. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

07.01.2022 This is my favorite mural in all of Melbourne - Rising Orb / Hope by @vexta The mural was originally commissioned by the City of Melbourne in 2016 and roughly each year is repainted/refreshed (shout out to @localguidemelb for info). To me this mural is the portal/gateway to Melbourne. As you walk up the staircase from Flinders Street Station coming out onto the Degraves Place youre met by a collection of coffee shops, stickers by @by_s.t._simethornton, a collage of posters ...for local events among other pieces of street art, local iconic shops like @clementines3000 and if youre lucky enough you might just spot @melbourneiloveyou snapping up a portrait for @humansinmelbourne or @deansunshine capturing the scenes of Melbourne. The mural itself has been brought to life by @eyejackapp as a part of an augmented reality art tour in the city! Plus, if you keep an eye out, you may have seen a little touch from @ellestreetart hiding down the bottom In an interview with the ABC in 2016 Vexter explained that the geometric shapes are "representative of subatomic particles that make up all matter" as a way of expressing "that were all connected and everything is interconnected". "Its important for people to realize they are the soul of the city and they are what makes the city" but at the same time Yvette explains that she likes that her work is still open to interpretation. It's a sculpture Built in '07 and designed by @callummortonstudio exploring the impact of architecture. The hotel was used on the cover of @officialviolentfemmes... album in 2019.
