20.01.2022 Vale Frank Ford Frank Ford, a founding and life member of the Living Museum and husband of LMW's first Director, Olwen Ford, passed away on Wednesday 12th at the age of 89. Frank has been an enduring and active supporter of the Museum and attended every AGM since its beginning in 1984. He will be sadly missed.... A Service to Celebrate the Life of Mr Frank Ford will be held in Holy Apostles Anglican Church, Anderson Road, Sunshine on FRIDAY (July 22nd, 2016) commencing at 10.00 am. 14.01.2022 A Midsummer Nights Dream opened last night! Launched by the Mayor of Maribyrnong, Councillor Cameron McDonald. More than 200 turned up on a cold rain threatening evening at Pipemakers Park last night and were rewarded with a fabulous energetic and exciting Australian version of Shakespeares surreal play A Midsummer Nights Dream despite the slightly chilly conditions. Everyone was inspired! Cant wait for tonight! 5 performances left! FREE Tonights forecast no rain max to...day 22! Bring a blanket or something to sit on and dress warmly. Start 6.30 pm sharp. Refreshments, bbq sausages and snacks for sale. Free face painting. Living Museum Visitor Centre with displays open too.

03.01.2022 Former director of MLMW and now 'volunteer extraordinaire' Peter Haffenden is seen here with His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa of Butan to his right, Senior Venerable Thich Phuoc Tan of Quang Minh Temple in Braybrook to his left, Greens Senator Janet Rice and Enviromental scientist Robert Gardner rounding out a panel who discussed 'A Healthy Environment and A Harmonious Culture and The Secret to Happiness' at the Quang Minh Temple last Friday 15/04/2016. Peter talked about our wonderful travelling exhibit 'Volcano dreaming' an intricate panel display made up of native flora, fauna and wildlife to the western region.An extremely informative evening!

03.01.2022 Gardening on Mars - a project by Lyndal Jones Conversation 1 with Annalea Beattie and invited participants / audience At the Living Museum of the West On Thursday, 21st March ... 7.00pm to 8.00pm Join a conversation with artists Lyndal Jones and Annalea Beattie who is also Executive Director of the Mars Society Australia. This exploratory informal gathering marks the beginning of Jones’ long-term project gardening on Mars. The event will be recorded to become the first podcast-as-artwork for Gardening on Mars by Jones with other artists, scientists and interested and concerned members of the public. About the speakers Lyndal Jones is an artist and feminist who creates performances and installations in very long term projects. She has recently completed her 15 year project, The Avoca Project: Art, Place and Climate Change with Watford House and scientists, artists, climate change activists and local residents in Avoca, central Victoria. Her new long-term project, Gardening on Mars, is based, for its first year, at The Living Museum of the West in Melbourne. Annalea Beattie, artist and Executive Director of the Mars Society Australia, is a past crew member the Mars Desert Research Station KiwiMars, Crew 118 and artist and educator on NASA Spaceward Bound New Zealand 2015 and in India more recently. Support The Living Museum of the West supports this project as part of a 12 month residency for Lyndal Jones. This project is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria

Areas of interest include the archive, the geographical and geological history of the location, as well as the physical elements of the site.
