24.01.2022 Congrats to Hawthorn on their performance today, sounding good! Thanks for giving our Dan Whelan the opportunity of a lifetime. All the best for Saturday!

21.01.2022 Bob was always a friend to our band. His memory will loom large for many years to come. He will be missed around the pipe band world. We have lost a true legend and gentleman. Rest easy. https://www.facebook.com/1640387189563861/posts/2506564286279476/

20.01.2022 It has been quiet times in lockdown here in Melbourne, but our members have been working hard. Congratulations to two of our members for their results in the recent Victorian Pipers Association Online Solo Contest: Sophie Stringer achieved a convincing 1st in Novice overall, winning the March element, Straths/Reel element and second in the Piobaireachd. Fin Parsons achieved 3rd in the C grade March element Well done!

19.01.2022 The City of Melbourne extend our condolences to the family and friends of Marcus. The band was honoured to have him join us at Pride March this year, which provides testament to his good character.

18.01.2022 The band thanks our service people and veterans for their sacrifice every Anzac Day. This year our members saluted, along with the rest of the pipe band community, with Amazing Grace at 11am in our driveways. Here are just a few... #LestWeForget #AnzacDay #AnzacDay2020 #pipebands #pipebandaustralia #CityOfMelbourne #StandTo

13.01.2022 Good luck to Kat and Dan as they prepare for the Grand 2 qualifier with Hawthorn!

13.01.2022 That time the band was on the Spicks n Specks Christmas Special! Wishing all our friends and supporters a happy and safe time to recharge. Looking forward to a big 2020 for the band!

10.01.2022 Our pipe major Campbell Wilson joined City of Adelaide for their trip to Lorient. Sounding great and lloking amazing, people!

09.01.2022 In a huge break in our calendar, this will be the first time since the start of the festival in 1994 the band will not be in Beechworth this November. The festival has our full support and we look forward to putting on a huge show next year! https://www.facebook.com/493478767404030/posts/3296141510471061/

09.01.2022 And another dearly loved fixture on hold for the year. Hopefully 2021 will see the band out, doing what we love and bringing pipe band music to the community again! We have some lockdown plans in the works, though, so stay tuned...

05.01.2022 Pride March! Thanks to Hawthorn, Moorabbin, Wangaratta & Cobram & Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band players for joining us Proud to be a supportive and supported community organization

04.01.2022 The Melbourne contingent at the Worlds this year. Good luck Dan and Kat with Hawthorn, Fin with Stockbridge and Lachie and Campbell with Pipe Band Club!

04.01.2022 Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Arthur Johns, tenor drummer with our band during the 1950s & 60s. Arthur passed away on Saturday. In 1965 Arthur was recognised with life membership of the band. (He apparently didn't receive the normal life member badge at the time and we were honoured to be able to correct that oversight nearly 50 years later, at our AGM in 2014.) Arthur's funeral service on Friday will fittingly conclude with the Melbourne Highland Pipe Band's performance of "The Black Bear" from their 1960s album "Airs, Marches and Selections".

04.01.2022 G4b winning medley. Great result with so many newly transitioned learners!

03.01.2022 This coming Saturday marks the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific (VP) day - the end of World War 2. Here's a wonderful photo of our band from the archives of the Australian War Memorial. It captures the joy of the drum corps and the crowd as they take part in the celebration march down St. Kilda Road in August 1945. You can understand their joy, as 6 years of wartime struggles, restrictions, sacrifice and tragedy was coming to an end. We will remember them. What we're going through at the moment can't be compared to the horrors and deprivations of a world war, but it's sure giving us a better feel for it. Our parade will come. We can't be sure when but there'll be a time when we're again playing down the street, just enjoying the chance to perform to a receptive crowd, and appreciating it all the more.

03.01.2022 Congratulation to Stockbridge and Melbourne player Fin Parsons on placing 2nd at North Berwick Games on Sunday. All the best for the Worlds on Saturday! https://youtu.be/80nXaZPOAaM

03.01.2022 A successful day out for the band. Won G4b, G3 third with a solid medley and best frocks! It was great to have many old faces back in the circle. It was a positive a vibrant day for the band. The season holds much promise... The G3 medley below, other vids to follow.

03.01.2022 The band playing through our great city again for the AFL Grand Final Parade! It was great to host some players from Maryborough pipes and drums. Good show!

01.01.2022 We would like to congratulate Lyn Vanos who recently received life membership to the band. Lyn has been a dedicated member for over 20 years, fulfilling various roles as a playing member, tutor and committee member. As a female Piper, she is an admired role model for the new and aspiring women of the band. We thank Lyn for her many years of contributions and commitment to the band, and appreciate her efforts. Here's to many more years to come Lyn!
