02.01.2022 It can be really confusing when the terms ‘CV’, and ‘resume’ are used interchangeably, but what’s the difference? Basically, a resume lists your work history and experience, and summarises your skills and education. Your resume should be modified to be relevant to the specific job position or company you’re applying for.... CV’s on the other hand are a documentation of your accomplishments, including credits beyond work experience like achievements, awards, honours, publications, etc. Your CV doesn’t need to be tailored to respond to a specific position or employer. In Australia, ‘CV’ and ‘resume’ are mostly used interchangeably, and for most jobs a resume is the most suitable document to send in. However, there are exceptions to this rule. If the job is located overseas, or emphasis will be placed on past achievements such as awards, honours, and publications then it's best to contact the recruiter directly and ask, would you prefer a resume or CV?.
