14.01.2022 One year on. We’ve now had a full year to both live through and reflect on the impact of the pandemic, and the changes it’s brought to both our business, our clients and our local economy. I feel incredibly fortunate that as a business we have not only survived 2020, but are thriving and continuing to produce incredible work for some really wonderful clients into 2021. This really is a true testament to the hard work of our team, the care we have for our clients and the exce...ptional quality of the work we produce. I know that the business landscape has not been as kind to some, and with this in mind I have decided to rework our online course offering to become more accessible to a larger audience. We have been inundated with training requests from small business owners over the past year and I wanted to ensure the training options we provide are not only a) safe (learn from the comfort of your couch!), b) relevant, easy to consume and useful, but they are also c) accessible from a pricing point of view. We know that digital marketing has never been more important. Due to its reactive nature and potential to reach large audiences, social media is a no-brainer for businesses looking to navigate the current climate and future proof their businesses. So, what have we done. Firstly, we have updated our Social Media Masterclass to include 2021s’ latest trends with up to date guidance and advice from our experienced team. For me, the highlights of the course are the step by step guidance on how to put together a social media strategy, the in-depth look at how to use Instagrams latest features such as Reels and IGTV, and the inclusion of our video guide on to how to take a great photo for social media that I put together with our Studio Photographer (and digital influencer herself) Alice Honey in 2020. Secondly, we’ve updated the price significantly. Prior to 2021, this course was charged out at $425, reflective of the value, expertise and materials included. And while it is still worth this price (if not more), in 2021, we want it to be as accessible as possible to as many small business owners as possible, and have brought the pricing in under $80 to reflect this. If this sounds like something that would be useful to a small business owner you know, please pass it along, and if they have any questions please send them our way. https://courses.thesocialco.com.au - Shelley / Director, Melbourne Social Co

12.01.2022 From this - to that. On Instagram, the one thing that sets the pros apart from the rest is a beautifully curated feed. By curating a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing feed, you’re more likely to turn visitors into followers - when they come to your grid to check it out, and like what they see, they’re more likely to stick around to see what you’ll post next. Here’s an example of a 'before' and a beautiful 'after' for our client Ardell Lashes.

09.01.2022 We were recently commissioned by the Moonee Valley City Council to provide a free photography day for local business owners. After selling out the event in record time, we had 10 local business owners come in to our studio last week to have their products (and themselves) photographed, providing them with gorgeous content to share and promote their businesses online. We also used their sessions to share our insider knowledge on styling and producing engaging digital content themselves moving forward. We were thrilled to be able to provide this service to the local community and can't wait to share the results with the lovely business owners who came in.

08.01.2022 Did you know that this month MSC celebrates our 9th year in business? With a traditional fashion editorial background, our Director Shelley Friesen began forging a career in social media over ten years ago establishing Melbourne Social Co in 2011. While pursuing IT wasn’t a stylish choice for a child of the 80’s, Shelley’s intuition to pursue social media was bang on (much like Olivia Newton John’s leotard in Let’s Get Physical!) I got into digital marketing through ident...ifying a need for businesses to embrace it. From my experience working in the editorial department of a fashion magazine and as a Marketing Manager for an Australian fashion and accessories label, I could see that social media was a tool businesses could adopt and utilise to connect with their consumers. Despite people’s hesitance at the time to take a leap of faith on such an emerging field, I decided to start my own digital marketing agency! Now a team of fifteen, most of whom can’t remember a world without selfies and Snapchat, Melbourne Social Co has been instrumental in building the digital presence of some of Australia’s biggest brands. While 2020 has certainly presented its’ challenges for both our business and our wonderful clients, the power of digital and social media is greater than ever and we’re excited to be able to continue to assist small business owners in navigating this difficult time. 08.01.2022 In typical Instagram fashion, mid-2020 Instagram launched a TikTok reboot on their platform. Almost a carbon-copy of the short-length video platform, Instagram Reels takes the best performing features from TikTok and reinvents them the Instagram way. So, six months on, with a few strategic nip and tucks we’re able to take a better look at Instagram Reels, what it means for agencies, brands and personal profiles and work out how to make the most of it!
