Come and see how we have transformed the space into something really special. Already we have a window installation brightening the street and @jillomeehan makes a start today on one of the wall murals outside. I’ll be bringing photography to another wall with a wallpaper mural too - stay tuned. And to top it off, we have 10% off from 4-6pm this arvo with drinks and nibbles. You enter a whole new whole world, where things happen in a parallel universe. Using small plant forms, seed pods, insects and shells, work with pencil to draw up the object to about five times the scale of the original, stylising the drawings to become more simplified forms. Through the use of repetition, Indra will then guide you to create a design for a wallpaper or fabric, completing your design with the use of watercolour. BIO 20 years ago, Indra Geidans came to Albany for a stint as a teacher. Years later she decided to make the move back here permanently and it proved to be a good move indeed. A practising visual artist, Indra has been involved in the art industry for over 30 years - both as a practitioner and as an educator - graduating from Curtin University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Education, Secondary Art and in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts, Fine Art (Printmaking). In 2009 she won the Albany Art Prize adding this award to her list of many achievements both nationally and on an International scale. Most recently, Indra has been shortlisted or the 2020 Lester Prize, one of the nation's most recognised and prestigious fine art prizes for works of portraiture. She will also be heading up the new team of the renovated Albany Town Hall when it opens in December. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to browse locally made art and be a part of this exciting project which is focused on reimagining these spaces for creative and community development.
