25.01.2022 On Wednesday we had a lot of fun playing musical chairs and dancing or moving in different ways to different genres of music today! Stories and singing lots and lots of songs was also fun as well as making our own obstacle courses using the yoga mat, the coffee table and the chairs. We also enjoyed drawing with pastels and talking about the colours we would like to use. J & E love observing and discussing the rain, sun and clouds today (a developing interest over the past weeks including the Moon!). Melissa

23.01.2022 A lovely start to the new year
23.01.2022 We have had a very busy day! The sensory play with rice provided lots of opportunities for experimentation/sensory exploration and a great job by all of... learning to keep the rice in the containers!! At group time (storytime before bed/rest time) we read going on a Bear hunt and favourite all about animals that visit a boy before he goes to sleep. We then sang Old McDonald, Baby B in particular was super happy to hear this song!
22.01.2022 It's been a great week...and it's only Wednesday !
22.01.2022 We are loving the new hammer boards, really enjoying crafty experiences... especially the messy ones! We always love hosting a small playgroup with Alyson's Family Day Care...fun!
21.01.2022 Some highlights from this week Today we saw so many beautiful native birds at the park!
20.01.2022 A wonderful day!
19.01.2022 Another busy day! Learning new dance moves, climbing up, over& through the forts and cooking for dinosaurs in the sandpit!
19.01.2022 Some highlights from this week Also... a big, warm welcome to Baby A. His family have kindly requested no photos of him on social media
18.01.2022 Dancing to the wiggles. Love the smiles at the end. I wanted to film in fast motion, but only had option for slow. Interesting to see how much work goes into this...and they must have done atleast 50 laps to the upbeat music, then danced "rock-a-bye your bear" !
18.01.2022 Byron knows where the musical instruments are kept! It's lovely to see him self select resources he chooses himself Elliot has enjoyed flexing his imaginative play pathways while cooking up a storm in the 'kitchen' today and flexing his whole body balance/muscles lifting this heavy tyre, and persisted with short bursts of rolling it too...which was quite hard as it is not flat on the outside, but rounded. Byron took quite a few steps using this walker today, he decided it was more effective using it backwards... whatever works!!
14.01.2022 It's the wiggles, It's time to be with our friends 'cause everybody's here It's time to dance, so everybody give a cheer!!
12.01.2022 The sandpit is becoming increasingly popular! Have a lovely weekend Melissa
12.01.2022 Some lovely moments from today... Attention to detail with acrylic painting-we know our primary colours by name Byron standing 'and' clapping! Great fine motor/imaginative skills with the Duplo today!
11.01.2022 Today we all had lots of fun using our sense of touch with rice today. We used measuring cups and spoons to scoop up the rice and pour it back into the containers or into another measuring cup. This was a great experience because the children followed instructions (we had a discussion before hand about where will the rice go? In the box, in the black bowl or on the floor? Why? Etc.). It was hard at times to keep the rice in the containers as we are still developing our fine motor skills in hand, fingers, wrist and...we are still developing our concentration spans. It felt great. We are becoming confident and involved learners. Byron, Elliot and Quinn did a great job of creating something with Duplo (Elliot... a bridge - Quinn....part of a house and Byron made a car with some help).
10.01.2022 We've had a very busy day bringing the outdoor's in!! What a work out! Healthy strong bodies = healthy strong minds Have a great weekend Melissa
10.01.2022 Today we combined the Duplo, loose part puzzle sets and two train sets to make an imagining 'world' . Elliot put much creative thinking, experimentation and patience onto this. Byron enjoyed helping, watching and began experimenting with the cup puzzle set and small blocks and began to stack or pull apart loose parts. We made an obstacle course, which Byron attempted much assisted walking and Elliot liked to climb over, roll through and to re-arrange it!!
10.01.2022 A fun, busy day today!
08.01.2022 We had a great time putting together this obstacle course outside today. Jack rolled over tyres and Elliot helped cover the end product in a long Matt of artificial grass. Byron helped by climbing all over everything...he was testing it for us...lol! We have once again sung lots of rhymes, experimented with trucks going down large pieces of cardboard, and played musical instruments to wiggles songs. Byron is beginning to push the large train around and watch how far it will roll before pushing it off again & repeating this process. It is wonderful to see all the children learning from one another's ideas and thus extending their learning and willingness to try new things. Melissa
07.01.2022 A fun day following the children's interests. Lots of practice with turn taking today, in small groups and larger groups. We enjoyed an extended group/mat time today with both Melissa and Alyson reading stories and singing our favourite songs

05.01.2022 I can see experimentation with momentum, imaginative skills, great parallel play (social skills) and a slightly hypnotic effect happening here! Children are so resourceful
05.01.2022 And so the wheel fascination continues...
