22.01.2022 Kundalini Yoga- Bow Pose This posture massages & invigorates the internal organs, strengthens the abdominal muscles & expands breathing capacity. It’s a full stretch for your spine, stimulating the flow of spinal fluid to refresh your brain. How do you do it? Lie on your stomach.... Bend your knees, keeping them in line with your hips. Take hold of your ankles. Inhale & lift your body up, raising your head, chest & thighs off the ground. This is a challenging posture that is best to start small & work your way up to longer times. 18.01.2022 Kundalini Yoga- Ego Eradicator Opens the lungs (helps to release stale air), increases brain alertness, stimulates the magnetic field, increases vitality, releases negativity, helps reduce stress. How do you do it? Sit in easy pose with a lengthened spine.... Lift the arms up to 60 degrees, ensure the shoulder blades are drawn down so the shoulders do not press against the ears. Curl the fingertips onto the pads of the palms with the thumbs stretched out. Thumbs should be in line with the angle of the arm. Begin the breathing exercise 'Breath of Fire' (a powerful inhale & exhale through the nose only). To end, the thumbs touch above the head and the fingers are spread, reach up for the heavens. 13.01.2022 Meet @__nilusha_________, who asked me to work with her to awaken inner creativity through Kundalini Yoga...although she was new to Kundalini Yoga, she embraced it with complete commitment, vigor & determination- initially committing to a consecutive 40 day practice, then connecting with the results so deeply that she extended her program to 90 & the 120 days! Here’s what she shared recently: Sat Nam! Today marks the 90th day of my first Kundalini Yoga Sadhana. What an amaz...ing journey it has been!! I set my intentions at the beginning of this practice, but what I received was way beyond my expectations ...VOCAL TECHNIQUE BENEFITSI’ve studied and taught voice for decades and it’s always refreshing to have new discoveries and techniques to enhance my existing knowledge and techniques. The Kundalini Sadhana comprised of a Kriya (a set movements) and Meditation (chanting). The breathing techniques used during the chanting helped deepen my breath capacity, strengthen my lower abdomen and isolate supporting muscles, develop my stamina and further stabilize my long, straight notes in my mid to lower range. I will definitely be passing these techniques on to my students! ...90 eventful days of just simply showing up for myself and committing to myself. Some days I couldn’t wait to begin and some days it felt like the 2 metre journey from my bed to my yoga mat was too long, too far or too hard but it was an appointment with myself that I didn’t want to be deprived of ...Thank you @melissamasonyoga for being an incredible teacher and support and thank you my dearest @__cs_______ for introducing me to this incredible, magnetic, calming, grounding, energizing practice! 11.01.2022 Would you be surprised to know that 234,000 Victorians are currently battling with an eating disorder? Last night as part of International Eating Disorders Awareness Week, I attended an event @eatingdisordersvictoria where some remarkable women shared their inspiring stories of recovery. Many factors contribute to this illness, both genetic & environmental, but each of the women spoke in some way about their feelings of disconnection, self loathing, hearing a negative inner v...oice, lack of confidence or a perfectionist mentality as part of the suffering they experienced. It pains me greatly to know how many people are facing these issues & I believe that collectively we need to have more of a conscious dialogue around food, health & exercise. No more: Being good this week I’ve been soooo bad this weekend Naughty food Need to get bikini ready Cheat days Good days Working it off She’s sooooooo skinny or any other kind of throwaway remarks that indicate some kind of angst around weight and body image standards.
