25.01.2022 Thanks SpanSet Australia for getting behind the Back Australian Manufacturing petition! melissamcintosh.com.au/back-australian-manufacturing

25.01.2022 Have loved catching up with people in our community this week before heading back to Parliament for the last two sitting weeks of the year.

25.01.2022 On this day 20 years ago, my husband Stuart was competing in the Canoe Slalom event for Great Britain at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games - the era before he became an Australian citizen. At the Penrith Whitewater Stadium today, it was a special time and an honour to remember this experience with our Olympic family #mysydney2000

24.01.2022 The Big Tree House Cafe is one of my favourite stops for lunch when out and about in St Marys and Colyton. A big shout out to all our local cafes and restaurants! So good to see business picking up again.

24.01.2022 Farm Road in Mulgoa resurfaced thanks to federal funding to Penrith City Council It’s so important that people in our community can get to where they are going and home again safely.

23.01.2022 ‘Happiness by helping’ is the motto at Emu Heights PS who had a very special guest - Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) zoom in for our Canberra in the Classroom today! It has been a challenging year for our school kids, including for year 6 students who couldn’t make their trip to Canberra and Parliament. For the children at Emu Heights, living by their motto has helped them overcome these challenges, do their very best and most importantly help and look out for each oth...er. The PM answered some very important questions from the students, particularly about leading our country. Perhaps a couple about Penrith Panthers vs Cronulla Sharks but we know who the winners are there!! Thank you Emu Heights, you were wonderful today and I’m so proud of you, and all the Year 6 students across our community getting ready for High School.

22.01.2022 Home from Canberra for a late celebration of International Dog Day with Romeo. To all the rescue dogs and all the dogs that rescue, hope you are all as loved as this giant

22.01.2022 Recently I spoke with Nick Cater of the Menzies Research Centre to discuss some very important matters that I am passionate about, including backing Australian manufacturing and the challenges of IP theft particularly from China. You can watch the full interview at https://youtu.be/5cvJfnIJBoI

22.01.2022 Stay tuned for our community’s magical tree lighting tonight on my Facebook page at 7.30pm . . . Penrith CBD Corporation

20.01.2022 Earlier today in Parliament I spoke about our local manufacturers including Plustec Pty Ltd in Emu Plains. Plustec specialises in making double-glazed uPVC windows and Tracey who owns and runs the business, recently took me on a tour of the factory, to get a first hand look at the manufacturing process. Tracey is part of my Advancing Manufacturing Taskforce. I want us to be stronger in backing our Australian manufacturers, particularly when it comes to advanced manufacturin...g. Tracey and her team at Plustec are getting behind my petition to back Australian manufacturing and you can too at melissamcintosh.com.au/back-australian-manufacturing/ #backaustralianmanufacturing #advancingmanufacturingtaskforce

19.01.2022 In Western Sydney, we have a strong and wonderful Nepalese community, and Australia is home to more than 100,000 Nepalese people. It was an honour to represent the Federal Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Hon Jason Wood MP, today at the Non Resident Nepalese Associations (NRNA) Oceania Regional Meeting & Knowledge Convention 2020 to discuss the impacts of Coronavirus, and the strength of our community in Lindsay and Western Sydney as we support and look after each other through the pandemic.

19.01.2022 Please see the below media statement received this evening from NSW Health re: Newmarch House.

18.01.2022 It is important in these extraordinary times that we do everything we can to support our year 12 students. Today I convened a meeting with High School Principals in our community, where how graduations and formals could take place in a COVID Safe way was discussed as a priority for schools. I encourage the NSW Government to provide solutions to our schools to help them navigate these challenges, so they can offer the best outcomes for students in this very important year. I had the opportunity to raise this in Parliament prior to Question Time this afternoon. Watch here

18.01.2022 From congestion busting infrastructure to local sporting infrastructure, Im working hard to deliver my election commitments for our community. 17.01.2022 On September 3, 1901 the Australian flag flew for the first time, and on this day every year we celebrate National Flag Day, our heritage and who we are as a nation. Today also marks Merchant Navy Day. We acknowledge the service and sacrifice of thousands of Australia's merchant mariners during wartime. Our flag is sewn proudly onto the uniforms of men and women serving our nation around the world. It is waved high in celebration and unites us equally in times of commemor...ation, and times of sadness and mourning. Our flag represents us as a nation on the world stage, in the good times and the bad. In 2001, as the dust began to settle and the rubble cleared from the September 11 attacks, an Australian flag was recovered amongst the debris of the Marriott Hotel in the World Trade Centre, damaged and torn, but still intact. As someone who, without a late change of plans, would have been staying at the Marriott Hotel on that very day, our flag found in the rubble is also a symbol of how we stand with our international friends in the darkest of times, and recover with hope and optimism for the future. We live in the best country in the world and as a nation we have so much to be proud of. During last Summers devastating and unprecedented bushfire season, our local RFS volunteers worked tirelessly to protect houses, families and livelihoods, often leaving their own families for weeks at a time and putting themselves in danger. I am so proud of all our volunteers in the NSW Rural Fire Service - Cumberland Zone; our Australian heroes. In this difficult time for our country, our community also came together to help provide for those who lost their homes and to support one another. This community spirit is what makes Australia great. Our flag represents who we are. It represents our resilience, our hard work and our sovereignty, which should always be protected. On National Flag Day, we remember that we are one, and we are proud of our beautiful country.

17.01.2022 The manufacturing of old has all but diminished as Australia has turned to China for imported products, spurred on by our desire for the cheapest option. But today the world is different. This includes an increasing demand for Aussie Made, according to Roy Morgan research released by The Daily Telegraph. Australians are backing Aussie Made, which means we should all be getting behind Australian manufacturing. 16.01.2022 Make sure to check your mailboxes for my latest community update! I've sent a copy of my newsletter to our community so you can stay up to date with work I am doing as your local Member of Parliament. I’ve also included a fridge magnet that has important phone numbers you and your family may need, and a community survey so you can provide feedback on how we can make our community an even better place to live, work and stay.

16.01.2022 Every four minutes, an Australian is diagnosed with cancer, which is nearly 150,000 Australians every year. All of us know someone who has been touched by cancer, and it is a very difficult time. Today is Daffodil Day, a day where we raise funds for life-saving research. Although Daffodil Day looks different this year and we can't be together in person, this day is still about Australians coming together to help stop this terrible disease. You can donate to the Cancer Council at https://www.cancercouncilfundraising.com.au/give/donate

16.01.2022 I’ll be down at East Bank on the Nepean River today and I’m looking forward to seeing our community! Come by and say hello!

16.01.2022 Im getting behind our Australian manufacturers and you can too by signing my petition at melissamcintosh.com.au/back-australian-manufacturing

16.01.2022 Local manufacturers like GPC Electronics are contributing to our national security and creating jobs. GPC recently won a contract to contribute to the Tactical Edge Servers for the Australian Defence Force's new Boxer Combat Reconnaissence Vehicles, helping our ADF in the field across the world in battlespace communications. Robert told me how securing this contract will open the door to new opportunities and further their contribution to our national defence industry and so...vereign capability, and help them continue to supply high-quality products. GPC employs over 130 people here in Penrith and is training local university students in the jobs of the future. Thanks to Robert and the team for showcasing some of the outstanding advanced manufacturing in our community. Senator Linda Reynolds Melissa Price MP Alex Hawke MP

14.01.2022 The best way to get ready for the last 2 parliamentary sitting weeks of the year! Happy Sunday everyone!!

14.01.2022 At our very own Nepean Community College, a 93 year old is undertaking the Tech Savvy Seniors Program so she can communicate with her grandchildren online throughout the pandemic, showing opportunities to learn shouldn't stop at any age. Today marks the beginning of Adult Learners Week, with great opportunities for lifelong learners to pick up new skills and find new interests in accessible classes taking places across our community. From learning how to stay safe online to gardening and cooking workshops, you can find out more or book in a class at www.adultlearnersweek.org

13.01.2022 As someone who is backing Australian manufacturing, I think its important to be bringing the issue of intellectual property theft by foreign competitors into the public sphere; its a big issue for our local manufacturers. Global research on Intellectual Property (IP) theft is telling us theres a problem. Its not only the cost of lost business but the cost of brand damage when IP theft takes place. Now is the time for an Australian Government-led review into the extent of... IP theft in Australia, with collaboration from business, industry, research institutions and state governments. Here, the question must be asked are we even collecting the right information for the time? Secondly, we need to reform IP infringement reporting requirements, so that we have consistent and regular data. As the global Coronavirus pandemic rebalances our focus on Australian manufacturing and the jobs of the future, we must ensure the checks and balances are in place so the hardworking manufacturers in Western Sydney and right across our nation, arent cheated out of the game by global IP theft. 13.01.2022 What Budget 2021 is all about.

12.01.2022 Emu Heights Public School helping get Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) warmed up for our return to Canberra and Question Time with some outstanding questions of their own!

12.01.2022 A very important message from the Prime Minister today on R U OK Day. Today is the day to reach out to your family, friends and colleagues.

11.01.2022 When I’m home, there’s nothing I love more than getting out in our community, particularly to our local schools. This week I visited two schools for Canberra in the Classroom - Emu Heights Public School who were joined by Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) via zoom, and St Joseph’s Primary School who were very enthusiastic even on this hot day! The children at both schools asked such great questions.

10.01.2022 #LIVE: Treasurer Josh Frydenberg hands down the 2021 Federal Budget.

08.01.2022 There are many wonderful childcare providers across our community who educate and care for our kids, and in Parliament today, on Early Childhood Educators Day, I thanked all of our teachers, carers and educators in early learning for their important work and positive impact on our children's development and wellbeing. Watch below

08.01.2022 NEWS: With the help of Federal Government funding, researchers are looking into the recovery of vegetation and wildlife following last summer's devastating bushfires.

08.01.2022 On this day, 19 years ago, the world changed. 2,977 people, including 10 Australians lost their lives during the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. This Australian flag was recovered amongst the debris of the Marriott Hotel in the World Trade Centre, damaged and torn, but still intact; a symbol of our resilience during one of the worlds darkest days. As the Chair of the Australia-United States Parliamentary Friendship Group, I will work with my colleagues to strengthen the Unbreakable Alliance that binds our nations through our greatest challenges and successes.

08.01.2022 Minister for Indigenous Australians Ken Wyatt joined me in Canberra on a teleconference with the team from Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services to get an update on how our local community is going during Coronavirus. Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services run the Cranebrook Breakfast Club, which provides breakfast and transport for children in our community who usually have low attendance rates at school. One of the concerns raised by Joy is the reduced number of c...hildren who have returned to school after the lockdown, particularly children who were already disengaged from their schooling. Education is such an essential part of our childrens lives and it is so important that they continue going to school. I have taken this issue up with the Minister on behalf of our community, and will continue to fight for the best outcomes for our children and their education. See more

07.01.2022 The incredible work of local volunteers shows the strength of our community spirit in action. Legacy dedicates its effort to supporting the families and loved ones of Australian Defence Force members who gave their lives or health during or after their service to our nation. Legatees like Eric are raising awareness of the support Legacy can provide young veterans' families and the opportunities for people in our community to volunteer. 06.01.2022 The challenges and opportunities in advanced manufacturing are best known by our local manufacturers. I've met with many businesses across our community proud to be Australian made, but facing obstacles, from energy and freight prices to foreign competitors and IP theft. That's why I've brought together local manufacturers like Tracey from PlusTec, with representatives in education and industry, so we can tackle these barriers, unlock the potential of Western Sydney and crea...te more local jobs. Today I spoke about this work in Parliament. Watch here Sign my petition to back Australian manufacturing here www.melissamcintosh.com.au/back-australian-manufacturing

06.01.2022 Today is Jersey Day. After two weeks in Canberra, I would have loved to join the Penrith Panthers again this year, and GWS Giants to raise awareness for this important cause but two interstate wins for our teams last night makes up for it! Wearing a jersey from your favourite sporting team today shows your support for the DonateLife network and the importance of organ donation. Jersey Day was inspired by the story of Nathan Gremmo, whose life was tragically lost in an accident at just 13 years of age. As an an organ donor, Nathan saved the lives of six people - including five young adults and a baby. Nathan's story exemplifies the importance of organ donation and how it can save a life.

06.01.2022 We're investing $354 million to improve and increase services for women in our community and across Australia, including for cervical and breast cancer, endometriosis and reproductive health.

05.01.2022 The Olympics coming to Penrith certainly did change mine and Stuarts lives! Cant believe it was 20 years ago. It has been a wonderful week participating in and sharing the memories of that very special time for our community and our family. #MySydney2000 https://www.smh.com.au//olympic-love-a-better-legacy-than-

05.01.2022 Happy 20 years since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games! What a special time it was for Penrith with two Olympic venues, thousands of athletes and visitors, and the best Olympic Games ever. Im getting behind the #MySydney2000 campaign and dug out a few old pics from the Games, and encourage you to get into the Sydney 2000 Olympic spirit too. ... 05.01.2022 As reported in The Western Weekender, I am very focused on ensuring our kids are educated and trained in the jobs of the future, and backing local manufacturing. In our latest Advancing Manufacturing Taskforce meeting, we discussed work that needs to be done to - Protect Australian manufacturers from intellectual property (IP) and cyber theft ... Ensure local kids know what the jobs of the future are, and the skills and training pathways to these jobs Showcase the great jobs and opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Thanks to all Taskforce members for their enthusiastic contributions. Together, we are backing Australian manufacturing and local jobs.

04.01.2022 World class manufacturing is happening right in our community, like the outstanding heavy duty manufacturing Baker & Provan does with a focus on advanced capabilities. Baker and Provan has worked on some of our most important defence and nation building projects, and have proudly been a family business operating out of a factory in St Marys for over 70 years. I valued the time I spent onsite today and to meet staff, from apprentices to people who have worked there for many years. I know Mal and the team also believe, like I do, that Western Sydney holds the key to the new era in Australian manufacturing.

04.01.2022 ADVICE FROM NSW HEALTH One of the cases reported today attended the JB HIFI Penrith Plaza on Sunday 13 September from 4pm to 4.30pm. Anyone who was at the venue at this time should be alert for symptoms and immediately get tested if any develop or have developed since this exposure, and stay isolated until a negative test result is received. For a list of local COVID-19 testing clinics, go to: https://www.nbmlhd.health.nsw.gov.au//covid-19-clinic-info

04.01.2022 Its wonderful how schools in our community are getting creative and bringing Canberra to their classrooms since Year 6 can't visit Parliament at the moment. I loved visiting students at Corpus Christi Cranebrook where we had fantastic conversations about Australia's democracy, how Parliament works and what the future of our community looks like. Lots of bright minds and enthusiastic questions! And thank you for the beautiful flowers

03.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Even though we can’t be together this year, our Christmas spirit is as bright as ever with our traditional lighting of the tree . Thank you Penrith CBD Corporation for keeping our wonderful tradition going in a different way this year and hope we can all be together again soon.

03.01.2022 Very sad to hear of the passing of Former Premier John Fahey who has left a lasting legacy on our State and our Nation, having been behind the success of Sydneys 2000 Olympic Games bid. On this 20th anniversary of the Sydney Olympics, we are grateful for John Faheys work in giving us the best Olympic Games in history, which was the most wonderful and unifying time for our community, state and country. Vale John Fahey.

02.01.2022 Im back from Parliament and in our community for the next four weeks, and one of my top priorities is getting on with the work to help create more local jobs. Plus Happy Fathers Day for yesterday, great news today for our local Year 12s for graduations and formals, and on the PMs announcement on vaccines! Watch here

02.01.2022 An update from the Prime Minister

02.01.2022 The Morrison Government will always protect Australias national interests. As the PM Scott Morrison (ScoMo) said, It is vital that when it comes to Australias dealings with the rest of the world we speak with one voice and work to one plan.
