24.01.2022 If a job trial goes for longer than whats needed for a brief demonstration of skills, you should be getting paid. Depending on the nature of the job an unpaid ...trial can last for between an hour and a whole shift. E.g. if you apply to be a barista in a caf, a 1 hour unpaid trial to show your coffee-making skills is OK. But if youre asked to do a full day or even a week-long trial, you should be paid for it. 22.01.2022 As a business owner or management representative, what is the safety focus of your workers? Is it just making sure there is Zero Harm or focusing on specific areas, such as manual handling, plant and equipment or exposure to hazardous chemicals? Unfortunately, most companys overlook psychosocial health factors, such as fatigue and stress, which are becoming more present in the work environment, leading to incidents. If you think your company is focusing on the wrong safety ...areas, touch base for a chat and Ill provide some information on how to address this issue in your workplace. We all want to go home in the same condition (albeit a little tired from our days work).... #staysafepeeps

20.01.2022 Up in Mackay doing a Bonsucro Audit and I have to say the views over the past few day have been amazing... The cane growers have endured a lot since the devastating floods ripped through the city in March.... Bonsucro certification ensures responsible sugarcane production, creating lasting value for the people, communities, businesses, economies and eco-systems in all cane-growing origins.

04.01.2022 Great to see a positive outcome for these young workers! When I was 15 I worked in a sewing factory, where I was made to work on adult piece rates but was paid junior wages. The company was made to back pay me for lost wages during the 2 year period. I used that money to go to Business College, where I finished a secretarial diploma. #onwardsandupwards #goodnewsstory

03.01.2022 What is Fatigue Management and why should we look at this from a workplace point of view? After just completing a 6 day audit in a hot and humid environment, I had to ensure that I was managing my own fatigue, by taking adequate rest breaks, wearing appropriate sun protection, drinking plenty of fluids and of course, ensuring I obtained enough sleep at night. There are many indicators that can cause fatigue. Work related factors include working extended hours, exposure to... variable temperatures, inadequate rest breaks and insufficient recovery time between work hours. Non-work related factors may include family responsibilities, social activities, health issues, study and sporting commitments. If you need further information about fatigue management, SafeWork Australia has a guidance document outlining some ways to manage this accordingly. If you still have any questions, you can always touch base.... http://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au//Managing-the-risk-of- #staysafepeeps
