19.01.2022 This piece uses digital, sublimation and screen print, patchwork and quilting. A memory textile piece made to remember my grandfather, who we all called Pa farmer . I like to incorporate metallic colours where possible to give it a timeless, opulent look and I have used some pieces of fabric from his shirts that my grandmother handed over to me.

19.01.2022 With Remembering the ANZACs this week, it reminded me of this picture I came across while discovering what Soldier Patchwork was. This painting ~ Thomas William Wood, Portrait of Private Thomas Walker (1856) ~ shows a soldier making his own patchwork quilt by sewing pieces of his woollen uniform together by hand as he recovers perhaps from a war-inflicted injury or illness. #memoryquilt #lestweforget #memorypatch #manmadequilt #woolquilt #repurposing

17.01.2022 Remembering Glanagh & Fairview, 2019: this piece was designed and created for the newest son of @meazyj. Both Marees and her husbands parents have retired and moved away from the country properties where they each grew up in very different parts of Queensland. This quilt, sized approx 170 x 210cm, captures memories from both properties to share with their sons. Painted stripes have been positioned into a plaid design using photoshop and photos incorporated and digitally pri...nted, then quilted and bound using the facing technique. Im really happy with this piece, which I also showcased as part of my Graduate Show at RMIT, however its what the new owners of this unique piece think that I really care about!! I worked closely with Maree throughout the entire process and so, to much relief, she was genuinely very impressed and adores the final outcome! I hope this piece gets treasured as time goes on and the boys can learn about where their family is from as they grow up. #memoriatextiles #customquilt #quiltcommission #memoryquilt #glanaghfairviewmemoryquilt

A windmill at Glanagh near #longreachqld The photos used in this quilt (I’ll post more in future posts) were included by working with them in Ps to make them more subtle but still present in the overall design.
